Today I am sharing how I transformed this vintage cabinet I bought at the thrift store. Full cabinet makeover where I lighten the dark wood using bleach and a whitewash technique. From the old stereo cabinet to the bar cabinet.

Didn't think I'd like this one but love the final project and how you used it. So far your technique is the closest one that I will likely use to upgrade my cabinets. As someone who has been working with wood as a hobby for a few years. I was absolutely DREADING sanding to STRIP the varnish and stain. I don't mind doing light sanding to scuff or to smooth but to strip I didn't want my arms to fall off. Thanks for sharing, this project turned out beautiful!

Cool idea! Just make use you tape off very well and use plastic beacuse you don't want this stuff in your carpet/ flooring

Looks great! I wish you would have kept more of the original wood inside like you originally planned because then the contrast of the faux radio portion wouldn't have been as stark but it looks amazing nonetheless!
