Question can we use regular 2x4s or do we have to use the 2x2s

You can use 2x4 if you want. I used a 2x4 and ripped it in half.

Hey, thanks for the video, I'm looking to replace some rotten wall studs in a similar camper. Looks like you were able to simply pry the old studs away from the exterior. Were they nailed or screwed in? Also, I saw that you screwed the ends of the new studs into their neighbors, but are you also attaching them to the exterior like they were before? I was wondering if there was a way to do this without screwing all the way through from the outside and creating new holes... siding/roofing screws w/ the gaskets would hopefully be waterproof, but still. Did you ever consider going to 2x4s in the walls or you think 2x2s are plenty strong? I was thinking to insulate with foamboard, what are your plans? Thanks!!

glad you enjoyed the video. so, the siding was stapled to the studs at the horizontal seams of the siding. as for securing the siding to the replacement studs, there was usually some type of window or trim piece that I had to secure into the studs anyways. I also applied some liquid nail for additional holding. there are some gaps without it the siding being fastened to the studs with screws, but it is a small distance, so I am not too concerned about it. I choose to stay with the 2x2 walls because it is plenty stout, and I didn't see a necessity in this project for 2x4 studs. for insulation, I was going to use foam board but changed to just using fiberglass batten insulation. the cost was less and easier to install. I have used foam board on another camper before and it worked great. in the next video you will see some of what I have talked about here.
