My Mother used to start writing and addressing Christmas cards on Nov. 1st, writing a note on each. Love the gift tags. Uncle George put "Harold" "Agnes" "Bartholomew" "Otto" and "Frankie" on the largest presents. No one even knew someone with any of these names! It was his effective way of stopping children from sneaking a peak at a gift with their name on the tag. He was a hoot, and never could remember who the gift was really meant for :)

Great nostalgic cards! So much nicer than anything available today. Love your fantastic collections and they were made in the good old USA!!! Good King Cole Slaw!!!😊 My mother saved cards from year to year and we cut them up the next year for gift tags but that was back in the day when we got dozens of cards. I don't get any anymore. Thanks Grandma! Love it! Well done! ❤❤❤

Hi Marty Rose I enjoyed looking at the cards again with everyone. We should have more items made in the USA. Good King Cole Slaw😂 I still like to make gift tags out of Christmas Cards. It seems we get less Christmas Cards each year. I think in the future it will be the same as a handwritten letter. Everything is done online now.❤️Grandma👩🏻

I would put a hook on them and hang them on the Christmas tree. Thanks for sharing the old but beautiful Christmas cards. They were lots of fun when I was a child. Merry Christmas.

That was a great walk down memory lane for me. I remember cards like those from my childhood. Thank you for not editing out your struggles with Wenceslas. It got funnier and funnier until I was actually laughing out loud. Like I Love Lucy and Vitameatavegamin. 😂 I don't mean that in a mean way. I think we all have words like that ("bureau" gives me fits), so it was the laughter of recognition and familiarity, not laughing AT you. But the laugh did me good, I'm sure.

Hi I am glad the vintage cards were a walk down memory lane for you. I am happy to hear you had a good laugh with me trying to say Wenceslas. I believe laughter is the best medicine. I remember my Grandmother for the laughing her and I would have together. Sometimes over something so silly. I Love Lucy was one of the best TV shows. Every time it’s on I still have a good laugh. Thank you so much for watching.❤️Grandma👩🏻

Greetings Grandma! Love this time capsule of Christmas greeting cards. I love the 7-up card, what a great idea for a lucky one that received it. And the seals and tags are amazing for only ten cents. they. I generally use papyrus or lovepop cards, the love pop cards are a bit expensive but they’re beautiful and are all 3-D when you open them up. Thank you for sharing this and taking us back in time. God Bless …. Brian

I love the oldest cards the best. Some of those you showed us reminded me of the opening credits of "It's a Wonderful Life". I also wish they could design stickers and gift tags like they did in 1944. They are so pretty! I must have hundreds of beautiful cards from friends and relatives from over the years. I have kept all my bday cards I have received since I was 12. Was my decision to do so. I first used a school pencil/crayon box and have since acquired & filled 2 large plastic moving storage totes. I haven't been in and gone through them in a long time, I think I will during my Christmas alone this year.

Thanks so much for sharing this with us!! I make this comment simply for the purpose of humor and not to offend "woke sensitive" people. The word "gay" could often be found in holiday greeting cards from the 30's, 40's, contained in phrases such as "have yourself a gay little Christmas." Gay of course, meaning "happy." Also, it wasn't uncommon to read articles in the papers about a recently wed man and woman having a "pretty gay wedding."

Yes, I noticed that as well. It’s so interesting to see the changes in language through time. ❤️ Grandma👩🏻

@@gregrak9389, Gay was also a moderately popular name for girls (in the top 400) up until 1960. Its popularity peaked in 1943, according to the Social Security database of names.
