Oh, how precious! My Dad used to work out of town for years. We would always be so excited for him to get home! I am now his and my Mom caregiver. We just found out he has terminal cancer. I'm so blessed to be with him with what time he has left. Breaks my heart, but we know we'll see each other again!!! Thank you Jesus

Priscilla, when I saw the desk with the decorations, I just had the biggest smile, and seeing Josiah's reaction just made me want to do something special like that for my dad. You did a great job. You are an inspirational family.

Chalk paint is probably the most forgiving way to redo furniture. I had a China cabinet that belonged to my husband's grandmother and it was UGLY, a catch all and did not have sufficient depth to hold dishes. I begged to get rid of it for years. LOL Then I got a wild hair and refinished it with chalk paint and now it's my favorite piece of furniture in my house. Just make sure to give it several coats of wax when finished painting and once a year, re-wax the piece to clean and continue to protect the surface for many years to come. EXCELLENT JOB!!

what a wonderful video!! you did a great job on refinishing the desk and the fit for that spot worked out so well and the chair and what you bought to make it so enjoyable for Joas to be working there. You did a great job Priscilla. it looks so good. that top finish looks like someone who had done in many times would do and the weathered type look on front and the pulls and handles turned out so good, think you should be thrilled with it and can see Joas loved it. GOD blessed you with trying and it turning out so good, would be able to sell it and people would be glad to buy it., not that you would want to but its that good. and the older boys liked it to and checked it out and what you added, the globe and holder for pens and mail etc and the plant but favorite is the plaque you found as from videos know Joas is a great dad and anyone would be thrilled to have him as a dad or even be around him growing up if friends of any of your children or related to both of you. He is a good example of what it means to be a great dad and great husband but of course you Priscilla are a good example of what it means to be a great mom and great wife. So you are both blessed and all your children are blessed.

Priscilla you are so talented...and patient...when I was younger I did some projects...I hated sanding cause I had no electric sander...it looks lovely and it fitted the nook perfectly...Father's Nook.. you can even put a small shelf for books on the left side..❤️

The bit I know. When you wet wipe down bare wood, it opens up the grain which is not wanted. In the future you buy cloths called tack cloths. They attract sand dust and remove it. Also my understanding is when sanding always sand along the grain of wood. In between coats of primer and paint, sand with fine sand paper. I love your technique on top applying stain. After drying stain or paint use fine sandpaper, wipe down with tack cloths. That is craft paint in little jars. That works. Another technique to antiquing is to tap the paint brush onto a cloth or paper or paper towel to get the excess paint off the brush so you don’t apply to much. Lovely job Priscilla. He was totally surprised and happy!

You learn by doing. You can always paint the desk again if you decide later that you want a different look. I like oil rubbed bronze paint and use it on lots of items It is a “ go to “ color for me.
