Vintage Extendar arm repair - Masters of the Universe - Toy Polloi

With some toys there are common areas that fail, and Masters of the Universe Extendar is one of those toys. As the plastic he is made of degrades it causes the arms to break off quite easily. So you often see this poor chap armless.
In this video I show you a simple way to get the arm re-attached and the figure back on display.

The broken piece inside the figure can be removed by grasping it with tweezers and then breaking it into smaller pieces using a dremel. Your grommet fix is a better solution than the original design. Nice work!

was afraid you have to take him apart totally. Never knew about those rubber things. You should try to see about fixing the dreaded GPS. I w as thinking about mine What if I covered the GPS in super glue & baking soda? I wonder if that give it a stronger protection.

Try using a plastic screw and the boil and pop method to stick it back in.

It won't work on this type of plastic. It's very brittle and you will most likely destroy the rest of the figure. That is why I used this method. Cheers

The leotoys version of this figure has the legs painted gold. Its rare.

Hey Toy Polloi I was wondering, how would you go about repainting these extendar figures? A lot of them have their gold turned into a greenish colour. I was thinking of attempting to restore the gold parts with some paints, do you have any advice or paint types/ products to recommend?

Many of my other MOTU videos show how I paint the figures and what paints I use. You'll just have to find a paint that is a good gold/bronze colour match. Then follow the tips in those. Cheers

It's a bronze/gold colour. I've not repainted one. Check the paint makers websites as they will have colour charts to help. Cheers

Another toy saved from scrap

My original childhood heman battle figure has a missing arm on one side. the stud that connects the arm on is still on the torso but the arm has been pulled off. I need to find an arm and I do not want to break the stud off trying to press an arm on. Plastic is old. I’m not sure how to repair it. Any suggestions?

Heat up the arm in just boiled water. The plastic will soften and will be easier to push on.

Rubber is not affected by plastic weld. So the answer is no on that one. Because rubber is flexible it's hard to get a good glue fix anyway.

I’ve seen a couple of this pop up in sales around my area, the problem is they are being sold as none moveable, I ask a seller and he said the part broke off so they glued it 🤦🏽‍♂️...I won’t mind paying the the price they are asking but unglued
