Maybe, although maybe not. Plenty of women like 'vintage' fashion from the 50, 60s and 80s. But how many women do you see dressed as 1920s flappers? I think the 1950s look will still be worn by some 100 years from now, but some fashions do die out. You don't see a lot of women wearing 18th century French corsait dresses.

Tbh I didn't think the difference in the way your face would look would be this drastic. With the vintage makeup your face literally looks like you stepped out of a time machine, and in the modern one you look like a regular girl in 2018. @H K Yo, um, if you see most full-face fountation+contour makeup in real life it looks super fake and bad; this type of makeup is great for looking good on camera, but in real life it is really obvious and overdone whereas most vintage makeup had more realistic expectations. I wouldn't say it is overdone and too strong; you can make up for an evening, for the camera and also for daylight; all of them would be made with different products, in different colors and so on; the more products you have, more you can actually play with your face, making it look different each time ;) and if someone prefers vintage? It's fine, both ways are fine as long as we feel good in our own skin! (and as long as it is hygienic)

@@JustAChinesePleb correct. Fashion is so much less difficult just to wear on your body now than it was 150 years ago. No corsets or stays or chemises. Drawers have been downsized to simple undies that just cover the essential private regions rather than cover the thighs with poofy fabric. No stockings. No petticoat or crinoline. None of the 282762436q layers of fabric. We just have to worry about one layer, and we can show our shoulders and legs. We wear in public now less than what an Edwardian lady wore for undergarments alone.

"Why are some eyelashes growing in the middle of my eyelid? Am I a mutant?" Actually... yes. A double lash line is a genetic mutation that some people have. And it's not a bad one. It's actually rather pretty. ENVY ENVY ENVY. Yours doesn't appear to be severe, so honestly... there probably won't be any drawbacks beyond this eyeliner thing. And you have the bonus of having prettier eyelashes than most people. Congratulations. (Just in case though, you might want to let your eye doctor know. Some people with double lash line can wind up growing eyelashes on the inside of their eyelid and damaging their eyes.)

Well, it just so happens that your face shape does not need any adjustments via contouring, so in fact there IS no reason for you to wear it. Tbh tho this definitely doesn't stop a lot of girls nowadays I guess... But let's get one thing straight: you definitely DON'T look "like a creepy doll" with your lower lashes painted. It just accentuates how beautifully big your eyes are. I really enjoyed this video. It goes to show how perceptions change. I loved what you said about wanting to get back to your "normal" clothes and style, and feeling in a modern look as if you were in costume! It's not only about what one's used to, it's about what one feels good in, too.
@AndromedaChace
@AndromedaChace 6 жыл бұрын
I think it's that her face is already angular, so contouring in almost the opposite configuration is what a pro would likely do to create a soft modern look. That's why Instagram makeup isn't one size fits all. Lol she did a really good job for a beginner in this style though.
@Feechkana
@Feechkana 5 жыл бұрын
"it just accentuates how beautifully big your eyes are" -- NO. Today makeup artists, mass media and etc tells us that modern makeup just accentuates your own beauty, and tons of people believe it, but let's be honest: it doesn't. The modern makeup is about making your face look different from what it really looks like. If you have deep eyes, paint eyelids white to make them look closer (sorry for my English, can't find the right word for what I mean even in my language, closer to, like, surface, not to each other), if your face shape is anything but oval, you must coutour it to make it as close to oval as possible. If your cheekbones are not too defined, make them look so. If your lips are... oh, no matter what your lips are, always make them look bigger. At least just a little bigger, if they are naturally big already. Same for eyes. Today it's not okay to have small eyes, but no one calls the eyes small, they just say "the makeup can help to accentuate how beautifully big your eyes are" -- and make your eyes twice bigger. But it works the same with the naturally big eyes, they always make them even bigger.

Eyebrows first? I'll tell ya. Modern makeup takes a lot of a style cues and technique from drag makeup as a whole. Contouring and heavy concealing is from stage/beauty makeup (AKA, drag). So, the process goes like this: Eyebrows make the face symmetrical, so you want to do these first so that you get them even and "perfect" before moving on, in case you need to wipe them away. If you do your "precise" things first, then you have opportunities to correct before you put more on. So, you do your eyebrows, clean the edges with concealer to make them sharper, then blend out. Your foundation shouldn't have to get too close to your brows at all, because you blend those colors together. Then eyes, then the rest. Trust, that's the most painless way to do a drag face.
