Hit and Run was one of my last figures but one of my favorites. The very military look was awesome. 1988 was really the last good year.

I'm from Brazil so my version was the one w/o face camouflage. And I always liked it due to the sculpt and colors. Great figure!

Absolutely one of the GOAT figures of the vintage line, a lot of guys that finished with GI Joe in 86-87 missed out on this guy. 1988 is my favourite and most nostalgic year for GI Joe.

This figure is so good, I thought his figure came earlier on in the toy line.

i had Hit and run when i was a kid, and i brought him to school and played with him outside on the playground on a slope, at some point during the play i lost him and could not find him. litteraly a year later i found him on that slope non the worse for wear then the screw rusted in his back. thats how good his camo was, that no other child in my schoolyard had found him.

Loved Hit N Run! I bought him from a friend who got him in Mallorca. Never saw the figure in Sweden. I played hard with my Joes and sadly Hit N Run were lost swimming in a small creek. I can still remembering searching for him to this day.

Damn! I can relate, I lost a weapon making one of these videos and searched my yard for days. I'm sure it's even worse as a kid.

It’s maybe small but also something I’ll never forget and maybe why I do my best not to lose such things now.😎

Hit and Run was the last new figure I bought in the original run. I stopped my complete collection in 87 because I'd outgrown them (look at me now! Lol). And 88's figures were mostly hideous, but a few stood out to me, so I did purchase those.

Enjoyed watching this awesome video very much. So interesting that one of the most popular, relatable, and playable GI Joe action figures among kids of the 1980s, got zero TV time and barely any comic book exposure. Because Hit and Run legit looked like a real Delta Force military trooper, had he only came out just a year or two earlier, he would have been a monster, classic hit--especially with classic, popular action movie classics like Aliens, Delta Force, Platoon, and Predator coming out around that time.

I loved this figure because of his camouflage and climbing gear like Alpine. He was one of the last figures I bought back then as I was 18.

I loved Hit and Run as a kid. He was one of the last GI Joe's i got as a kid because as you said, when they moved away from looking like believable soliders and started putting everyone in those neon sherbet colors i moved on.

Am surprised you didn’t route the grappling hook through his belt loop. As a kid I bought this figure with another I can’t recall. It took a bike ride to the store. We paused near a goat park and I uncarded him on the bench next to the fence. Sun, Grass, smell of goats. That was the experience. Got to thank the great artist Mark Pennington for this cool character. I never bothered with the filecard, it’s often made up and not matching the character design and intent. One mine, he was Belgian and his code name was “ Gymp “. His family name was Merkyx. The green skin was awesome, the ultimate camo. For the kid I was at the time, he represented the typical commando seen in all the movies. It felt that he should have the shorter, Colt commando. The straight magazine of a smaller caliber did not make sense. With the help of pliers I quickly solved that discrepancy and squished it into a shorter, wider and curved 5.56 magazine. The grappling hook and duffel bag was awesome. I had him rappelling down from the goat fence, from any curtain mount, door hinge or bed frame available. In the back of a car, I’d hook him onto the front seat headrest poles. Hours of play. Turns out my favorite figs all came from the gap era, late 1987-1988. Blizzard and other were very rich characters yet untapped as far as their potential. My only criticism of the character sculpt was his baggy pants where the knee joints would have big edges exposed up front. You could pinch and hold stuff with these jaw like gaps. I wish they would have scaled up the knee joints to match the larger pants… it would have enabled beefier knee pins too 😉 The string taught me as a kid to learn a bit about knots. Since I would sometime route the string through the belt buckle, and sometimes feel the need to remove the string. I had to learn to make a secure knot I could untie. The duffel bag could be like a ball and chain at times, and get tangled up. I recently added a tiny carabiner clip made of black nylon, it enables quick on/off connection to a string without wearing the ever fraying end of it. The duffel bag was cool because we could hide tiny pieces of paper inside, secret maps, pretend army rations etc..For me he is like the hulk. If he ain’t got no green skin, he ain’t Hit’n Run. Seeing him with peach pink skin is blasphemy! The Tiger Force version could be ok if it wasn’t for those glossy and squeaky chemical resistant black gloves. Either he is handling damaged acid batteries or helping the birthing of cattle on the farm. An all time favorite, definitely a great character in the line. Thanks!
