What a find, £25 plus postage, the clipper is actually my dc controller of choice. Have had one from very early 80s. Have 4 125s, one original from 1979 and an executive livery one. They look fantastic all together. Ringfield motor is in so many vintage trains; few small difference between them but just little care with oil and they work. Great find; well done

Apart from the drop of oil on motor bearings, ringfields enjoy most a light oil on the axles. This is because it self cleans and stops the differing metals black corrosion. Its through the chassis that they pick up of course.

Good for £25, bargain. Those "soldering" marks, are sometimes a chemical reaction between the plastic coating on the controller wires resting on the body of the locos, rolling stock etc. I've had a few items with this burn mark on them.

Hi well I never knew that,a lot of trains from this era have the marks ,got a few in my collection, yeh really happy with the set runs like a dream, and still with the original bulbs in 👍👍👍

The motor bogie wasnt clipped into the chassis, and using sand paper will take the protective coating off the steel rails, unless they were rusty already of course. Back in the day i could strip down a Hornby ringfield motor including spur gear removal and armature in minutes. They were never made from quality materials, with the plating from the wheels particularly susceptible! I believe it was Xmas '77 i got my HST, and i supplanted it with an additional 2nd class mark 3. At the age of 11 I was very impressed... Your video certainly brings back memories...

Hi,yes the track were a bit rusty yes,but the sand paper I was using was the finest you can get,a track rubber is useless when for years of crud on them,.everything was in place just me dislodging things with bit mitts👍👍 track won’t be used again,,I can go as far as taking motor fully apart,as I have track record of loosing parts, even if I put them together when taking apart.very happy with the set it will survive for years to come .👍👍👍👍

@trotskis00layouts When you compare to the current TT120 HST that hornby have just released. the power car and dummy car retail for 219.99. then you need to decoders for either end which are 69.99 each, and then 37.49 per coach. it's mega money. it makes me think I need to start hunting for bargains on ebay aswell 🤔 👍
