Wonderful things! Can’t believe how cheap the beads are! Next city trip with the girls will of course be to the Netherlands! With an empty suitcase for treasures. 👍🏻❤️

What a great haul the hair braid is what was used many many years ago to wind hair around a perm rod or a curler to keep the ends flat. Nowadays they use end papers. When they used to wind a perm without papers or hair they would use the tail end of a tail comb to tuck the ends of the hair in to give some purchase or tension to wind the rest of the hair but it would result in a "fish tail" on the ends which would be unsightly. Thanks for sharing ❤

You were right--it was a long one. I had to stop for a tea break, but I came back and watched till the end. What a lovely bunch of treasures. It is so fun to see what you find in your thrift stores and even more fun to see what your friend Wendy sent to you. Such lovely stuff. I have a theory about those date books that are not written in--It was a gift, and it was just "too pretty to write in." Then at some point, "Got to get it outta here." lol. Have a great week, Margreth. Thanks for sharing your treasure finds with us.

Such gorgeous treasures. Can I be a boring pedant for a second?😘 The box that the calendar came in was not for the calendar inside!! And, the lovely Clock Encyclopedia was from the 1970s...the receipt you found inside was for a camera. 😊 Everything was wonderful to behold but my favourite piece was the little frog in with the beads and charms!🐸🥰 TFS❤

Those fish, butterflies etc, so cute for dangles on a journal about field specimens. The folding rulers i think were at one time used by carpenters before the invention of roll out tape measures. I used to get alot of them in my antique store. You can find broken ones if your not fussy, and use for bindings by drilling holes in the 2 wood pieces, front and back, put journal inbetween and bolts and nuts to secure.

Matsuru is a karate equipment company. They sell equipment in the US and Canada. The black and white trim is beading for garments. You sew it in the seam of a garment as decor. Probably used in some type of masculine garment. You can buy bells to put onto the animals to create charms for dangles. They come in a clear plastic variety so they are not obvious. The land of the midnight sun book is beautiful. I love the map on the back. So pretty. Inherited a Scottish fold cat. He is a stray who showed up at my house. Poor old guy. He comes to eat with my cats. It took months before he would quit hissing at us. He lets us pet him a bit now. Love all the treasures you shared. Especially those you got from Wendy. Thank you for sharing.

The rulers are carpenter rulers used by architects or builders. My dad was builder and engineer. He had several of those. I personally have 3 of them.

Great treasures today Margreth, I wish the books in the U.K were as cheap, we never get those prices in our charity shops - we don't have thrift shops. I love owls, the large book was beautiful, and I love your gift box treasures from wendy. Crafty hugs Jacqui 😺😺💖

The black and white trim is piping. You sew it in between two halfs of a cushion, and the black trim will stick out and make it all proper and prestine and posh looking :)

Those metal pieces that you didn't know what they were, they are bead caps or long skinny ones for making decorative tassels. So far I'm enjoying this thrift shopping trip. It would be loads of fun going thrifting with you. Are you sure you're not going to go back and get the larger metal box that's probably 12" x 12"? Just in case it's not there later 😮. Thanks for sharing your treasures. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
