The remarkable thing therefore becomes that Stewart somehow acquired not one, but two of these in mint or near mint condition to sell in his shop. I do wonder about the toy Sheldon is shown playing with. Did the prop department have to go online and buy a genuine Palatoy Transporter and deliberately break it? Or is it a reproduction?

I had the Star Trek Enterprise playset which had the transporter built in. I don't think Mego made a stand alone transporter for sale in 1975.
