I love these little pieces of history. I find them so interesting, and if I could collect some of them and be able to show and tell their stories to friends and family I think it would make magic that much MORE special you know! There is a rumor/piece of folklore that one of the original owners of Troll and Toad was in London when this stuff came out and he got as much as he could (since he immediately knew the significance) and that's how they got it. He was in the right place at the right time. No idea if this is true or not, but that was the word I heard back in September-ish 1994.

Ed, thanks for the info. Always enjoy the videos. All revised sold good here in the Midwest. Just like everything else than it took awhile for it to get from the coast. There is a story attached to this so when Im feeling nostalgic I will tell you. LOL C ya

The revised shortage was caused by summer edition. It was supposed to be the ‘fixed’ revised and also fill demand for it… Imagine they mass produced this and there was 2X or more revised…? Would duals be as expensive as they are now???

@@DualBrainMTG I think they would be not as expensive. If you wanted revised around here you would have to do mail order or take the 35 minute drive to Kansas City. It was easier to stay in town and eat 50 cent coney dogs from A & W. LMAO

I was in a lucky spot, I lived near Wizard world (now Toywiz), and their sister company was Wizard press, they made the comic price guide ‘The Wizard’ and ‘Inquest’ TCG price guide… So my LGSs were well aware and stocked of revised and further…

This is a really special and mistirious subject! Not a lot of info out there,a lot of disinformation and probably this is why the value and the hunt is so insane on these summer cards! But this subject is so charming to look into it!

Summer is such a weird subset. I believe that there are no more than 150-200 of every card that has survived and only 5-6 complete sets out there. I know Daniel Chang of VintageMTG used to have one and there is a collector in the US who has a full 9-9.5 set. If you want to know more about it either Tavis King or Daniel Chang are the true experts. From an investment perspective certainly here in Europe most serious collectors won't touch it as it's very hard to sell easily and pricing is almost impossible. Plus to be blunt no data on print sizes are available that I've seen and it's always been rumoured that some people may have lots more than is in the open market.

We had loads of summer magic in the Netherlands Troll and Toad always was in the Netherlands at our MTG convention they also had beta boosters with alpha rares. Its hilarious, the church failed to ban mtg cards but the woks succeed.

@@DualBrainMTG hehehe it was not that fun when I opened it no one wanted alpha people threw a lot of money for beta only. Only good thing about is I traded it with them for 25 kjeldorian outposts. Some people did collect summer magic over here around that time dunno some people claimed it was printed in the US and the setup was wrong.

@@DualBrainMTG I worked for a magazine/book distributor. Sometimes "shreads" don't make it back to the publisher to be shreaded.. true story

Typically they do this with news papers and magazines... removed the title at the top or cover and returned the rest. Kept the cover or title of paper for record of return the rest to be shredded for credit. Often returns went on weight and not count.

I was told there were around 25 of each card. If there were packs of cards that sure doesn’t sound possible. The lore i go by is that a particular employee took most of the supply right out of the dumpster where they discarded it. Who knows…

What do you think of it as an investment? I have a handful. Steal artifact, control magic, wrath of god, wheel of fortune, mana vault, and………Bayou. Almost nabbed a copy artifact and still bothered i didn’t get it.

@@DualBrainMTG Toywiz is my local LGS, Small world. I used to play in Pokemon Tourneys back in 99 when it was Wizard World. The manager John got a bunch of us hooked on this MUD (Multi user dungeon?) text game. Those were the days, I would get dropped off there on Sundays and hang all day.

Geex, i wonder why no one can just give a straight story on the origins but its the same in the 2000 pokemon era, these dudes dont wanna snitch on themselves. All kinda theft was going on at the pokemon factories and no one calls it out they was walking out with cards and print run sheets like it was bags of candy.
