The design of those tweeters = amazing. I had a pair of similar ones, the TSX6. Here's a nice photo I found, if the link doesn't work, try searching, the design is definitely worth checking out : used a cool pair of tiny metal bars as protection for the woofers.. I don't really think the bars were functional in any serious way, but they gave the woofers a *very* cool style, totally unique. Also-- the most important thing is the TSX6 had pretty good sound, I think they realized that the "tin can sound" you talked about was going to make sales go down the tubes, so they put good quality drivers, then charged a little more for them.. My favorite speakers from 70s/80s were the classic "Jensen 6 by 9 (6 x 9)" --cost about 300 bucks per pair... where built like tanks, to survive wear and tear, as could probably handle up to 150 or 200 Watts and even at low wattage they were efficient and sounded like home stereo quality, also were made so that mounting screws \ hardware were straightforward and fit into almost any car with just a tiny bit of work,, yeah those Jensen guys were my heroes. www retrolandleeds [d0t] uk/pair-of-pioneer-ts-x6-speakers-16202-p.asp
