Vintage Recipe! Gingerbread with a Lemon Sauce! It's Larapin!

Oh, Miss Lori, I have been looking for a great gingerbread sheet cake for 44 years. I lost my Momma's recipe in 1980. I have tried several, but none were that good. This brought tears to my eyes as so many memories are surrounded by this cake. When it's hot, smother with butter. Later, after it is cooled, the lemon sauce would be wonderful. Thanks for getting my number one bucket list recipe to me. Blessings to you and Mr. Brown. You both are dearly loved all over the world.

I was raised in central Texas and my Grampa had relatives in Hot Springs. My very best memories are going to Arkansas as a kid. I loved that stretch of road going through Texarkana with huge trees lining both sides of the road. I loved just sitting and listening to them visit. It was always during the schoolyear when we'd go, and I remember playing hookie for a few days and taking my homework with me and doing it at night at the motel. Oh good times.
