Great restoration and custom work. I like that you put Toy Polloi stickers on the inside; just like a clockmaker would put their mark on the inside housing, to sign their work, when they repair an old clock! Not sure if that was the intent, but seems appropriate. Well done!

As they say, less is more and you have restored a wreck and given it just enough attention to make it different from the rest without going over the top. I especially liked how you salvaged the cardboard background, fitted the custom lighting and fabricated the fiddly bits. Another great project!

Your video is 4 years old, but it’s brilliant & incredibly helpful since I’m customizing a 79 Kenner Falcon myself.I had hit a wall when it came time to route some LEDs for added FX, but after watching your series of videos, I’m finally able to move past that part. Awesome stuff Dave. The top gun repair was brilliant. I can't believe how accurate your drilling is free hand. I couldn't do it without a vice. You are definitely the Master!!! My favourite resto so far. Keep up the good work!

Practice. I do that fix all the time. I should really get a small desk vice though. It would make it easier and less dangerous.

This is great! I'd love to do something like this! I had a original one when I was young, it was stored at my mum's, in her loft, and after quite a few years when I checked- it had gone!

Quality end result - looks brilliant! I'll admit, I would've preferred more lights, eg. a couple more underneath, a couple more in the cockpit and six separate ones for each of the headlights, but that's just me.. Love those LEDs!

I know for a fact that LEGOs are made out of ABS plastic, not entirely sure what the toys themselves are made out of, but for attaching things to each other, you could trying using a solvent weld? So Instead of having to drill, you could just drop a bit of pure acetone where you need it, and weld them together.

I guess that, with a little bit of work, paint, and proper tools you could actually make the cracks look like even more battle damage :). But the final result does look great, what a difference!

I really enjoy your videos but I did have a couple of ideas/questions. On the headlights, I wonder if you boxed them in behind the LED if they'd all three light up? On the guns, instead of cutting them off behind the first ring near the tip, cut them off behind the second, fatter ring? Seems like it would allow for an easier hole to drill, bigger support post on the inside and more hidden overall. Thanks again for making these videos. They're entertaining and inspirational.

To fill cracks there is a seam filler that model builders use. I believe it is made by Tamiya. It comes in a tube, you just squirt it in the cracks then wipe away the excess with water. It fills seams quite nicely. I wish I could remember it's exact name but you should be able to find it at any hobby shop that sells model kits.

They are very hard to find, and I am not willing to pay the prices that sellers want for them. The ship looks fine without them. If I eve find them, I will add them.

i dont get it... why you dont keep the komplet gun and take one frontpart from the brocken one. so you have a repaired one and a original one

I love your videos.. I need to get your email.. I have been stocking up on parts and ships for the last couple of years.. Completing some stock piling the rest.. I have some ways I do my stuff that is similar to your methods.. and really want to learn more about the electronic aspects of restoration and even the customized lights.. I found your videos yesterday... And the Lego tricks are blowing my mind.. because I have all kinds of broken parts... that I could probably fix and still use..
