I was so ready to talk about how trunks give you an extra 8 inventory spaces over 2 chests, and then you brought up the point about the carry on mod and I was just floored by your considerations. Farmland can NOT be dug up again after it's made, it'll simply be destroyed. That said, if you live in or near a place with medium soil, there's not much stopping you from simply replacing it every time you'd farm. The non growing period of winter also makes all of your farm plots effectively fallow for 4-5 months, replenishing most or all of the fertility in farmland, so crop rotation becomes relatively moot by all practical means. Regarding ore veins, vintage story tends to spawn them as disks on staggered, but singular layers. I like to place myself such that the ores are on eye level, and then carve them out using a T shaped tetromino, so that I can reach every ore broken and dig out the greatest amount of ore with the least tool durability. It also conserves inventory from stones, which becomes a real nuisance in between building projects. It ALSO has the benefit of hindering drifter movement in your mineshaft, and with a spear you can simply hit them across the 2 block gap that they can't jump past. I'm loving this series, and it's making me think about recording some of my own VinS gameplay. Thank you!

A cool tip, if you hoe a fully mature crop you find in the wild, you'll get more when you harvest it.

Vintage Story speed run, lol! It's a fun series to watch. With 9 in-game days you're already ahead of me with my couple hundred hours of play. I'm avoiding spoilers so I'll have to wait to watch more of your playthrough. One comment about windows -- you can use plain glass, which doesn't need lead. Just quartz and a bloomery. (I believe you did run across lead earlier, but skipped it, oops.)
@dannyrothkoАй бұрын
The seed is really great for a quick start so far! I don't really like how the black border looks around the normal glass so I'm planning on doing an expedition for lead soon! I totally missed it if I walked past it haha.

Well played! I'm enjoying the slow and steady adventure. Moose can in fact hit back, just like rams will, so beware of that. Glad the pillar kept you up and safe. You can use glass half-slabs (any glass + saw to the right) as windows too, they count as insulating as long as the "flush" side is against the interior.
@dannyrothko2 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes I've learned the hard way with a moose before haha. Thanks for the tip on the glass, I may end up doing that if I can't find any lead soon.

There's like a 1/2000 chance for a temp gear to drop from sifting. So not a bad option. Sifting is what I do to pass the time no matter what stage I'm in the game.

Thank you! A lot of progress, but so much more to go haha. And yeah I'm always getting sidetracked in this game, too much to do!

Worth keeping hold of the rot you find, throw a stack of it in a barrel and 20 days later it's compost, a critical component for crafting terra preta. And you need a lot of compost to make it. Also, I don't really know why people sleep in VS. There's no benefit and there's so much to do so why sleep?
@dannyrothko2 ай бұрын
Oh that's good to know! Definitely want to get some of that for the farm. I only sleep if there's nothing I can really do in the night.

@@dannyrothko Domesticating pigs is the way to go. Keep one or two litters going and you'll have plentiful fat hides and meat. After a few generations they become much easier to manage as well.

this game seems too complicated for me to get into, especially if it costs like 20 dollars, but i AM interested so just watching a let's play is best option here, found your channel and your videos are genuinely a good watch!!! way underrated, and nice voice btw :3

I personally bought vintage story and only played about 10 hours in the span of 4 months before a group of friends spontaneously decided to start playing it, and that's when I got more invested in the game than anyone else and began playing it for real. It's a slow and deliberate game for sure, but once you've given it an earnest shot, even if it takes a bit of help from friends, the investment will come naturally and the game gets very rewarding from there.

Thank you so much! It is a super complicated game so I understand, sometimes watching a playthrough is a nice experience.
@PinnixАй бұрын
Totally get that. It's a LOT. The complexity was what made the game attractive to me though. I got really bored playing solo Minecraft after 12 years but SMP isn't really a good option for me. Vintage Story was just the solo crafting/survival challenge I wanted.
