I think the animations work in some places. I believe a few of them need some more dramatic arcs for the arms and an extra key frame or in-between to smooth out some of them. I especially think the one where your model is throwing his arm was pretty funny. The only major gripe I think I personally had with it is I think it looks a little weird when your model comes off his legs when speaking. I understand it's based on the Minecraft models so idk how much you should play with it to make it still look like Minecraft but help with that separation. Anyway I think you should keep the animations after tweaking them and use them in the videos with the usual bump. I think finding a way to work with both will be really cool.

About the fire clay, that's also something fixed in the next update: there's now ways to make fire clay with any clay and flint that has been cooked and then ground. The only complaints I have with it is that flint takes a long time to cook and natural spawning fire clay seems to be more rare (the new red clay seems to be a lot more common than the old blue clay though). Also, there's now a late game way to cook a LOT of clay items at the same time so you can make LOTS of fire clay bricks at once. Also also, torches kinda suck for illumination even with torch holders, much better to use lanterns that are made with candles (which you can make with wax you can get from bees, or you can find some by panning bony soil), glass or clear quartz and pretty much any metal plate. And if you can't make lanterns, grease lamps also work a lot better than torches, though I'd install the mod that lets you put them on walls.
@therealbottomdweller
@therealbottomdweller 4 күн бұрын
Glad the clay issue is being solved. I still stand by the fact that we need another furnace alternative tho that doesnt require breaking it lmao. As for the light sources, the lanterns I imagine worked better. The problem is its pretty far into the game and I think that torch holders have potential to be an early game light source option, but its actively working against itself if that makes sense? Otherwise yeah use the lanterns :)

Could not agree more. It forces you to interact with the world, not just settle in a certain location and dig straight down for all your ressources. Sure it might make progressing some steps of the journey more time consuming, but what is the rush anyway? Vintage Story really is a game about the slow steady progression.
@biggiecheese3678

Honestly that was and still is my main problem with Minecraft as while the world generation can make some really cool areas to explore everything you could ever need is in a short walk from your house so once you settle there is hardly any good reason for you to venture out so I find it really nice when a game forces you to explore and interact with the wider world
@DarkDiamond-jx2gx
@DarkDiamond-jx2gx 13 сағат бұрын
@biggiecheese3678 i fixed that problem in my minecraft world by changing my world settings to large biomes. The biomes are a lot more massive, but crossing them into new bioma takes longer. Plus, it feels more realistic, as a comically small biome is a little immersion breaking. Only works on Java edition, tough luck if you're on Bedrock.

8:15 fire clay as of 1.20 will not spawn naturally anymore (being replaced by red clay) and you will have to craft fire clay from naturally spawning blue or red clay vains (actually fire clay will occasionally generate under coal vains but that’s negligible in my opinion)
@PaladinJoe-he3hs

From my testing it can also spawn near Bauxite gravel or sand but it is rare aswell. But since now its craftable its not that bad.
@GregorSamsara_
@GregorSamsara_ 17 сағат бұрын
From my experience it's not negligible. Even from moderate coal readings you can expect massive amounts of it. Plus the coal itself is very nice too. Especially if you want to work large amounts of metal, then it's more time efficient to setup a coal mine than to chop and kiln trees. On the flip side, if you're unlucky with fire clay under coal, than you can use the coal to cook the flints anyway

The world is huge, resources are spread out. Exploration is your friend. When you find translocators you can go thousands of blocks away to source new types of wood, stone, metals. There are ruins to explore and plunder, northern lights over the frozen tundra, tropical rainforests with bizarre plant life, hyena-filled savannahs to explore - you’re just getting started.

I find plenty of torch holders in ruins. By the time I’m making iron tools I’ve found all of the torch holders I need to outfit the house where I need them. The primary light source being lanterns. If you want an early game light source, choose oil lamps, which is Fat+Fired Clay Bowl. As for bloomeries, I typically make up quite a few bricks at a time so I’m not traveling back and forth for the clay. Crafting glass with a saw will get you twice as many glass slabs, saving a lot of time and materials.
@veiseren
@veiseren 3 күн бұрын
Your biggest gripes with this game are yet also topics that you applauded in the last video. The games impeccable way of giving you a million things to do, yet no real down time where you're left twiddling your thumbs. Having to travel all over the world to find, say fire clay or a specific metal, simply forces you to interact with the world. It's a very natural way to get you to discover all sorts of new stuff like: Ruins, Lore, New plants, Different animals, etc. That world discovering time would otherwise likely just be spend idling in front of the bloomeries waiting for the iron to finish blooming. The fact that fire clay gets used up might be somewhat annoying, but it just sends you back out into the world. Also the current new update that is soon fully finished is going to have a recipe to craft fireclay, so you only need to find more readily common materials. Framing this in another way: Is the system of item durability also a problem because you could risk spending all of your tin on tin bronze tools, and therefore you have to go out into the world to find more tin? Tin can also be quite hard to find. Same with Zinc or Bismuth.

I actually really enjoy the prospecting, haha. It's like a mini game, kinda like Battleship, only that you get neat minerals when you land a hit. Also you have a reason to go on a little expedition, and I love exploring in games like these. But glad you enjoy the rest of the game and give it some recognition! Also, its really fun to see how you progressed in the game since your last review and discovered new things - and there is still more to learn haha! E.g., you maybe already saw by now that when chiseling, you even can combine different materials in one chiseling project.

I’m not too bothered about the prodpicting but it’s def something you have to learn and understand how the game works, def makes you explore a lot which leads me to wanting to make path blocks for quicker travel. I tend to get bees as soon as I can to get a good supply of candles and I usually have the ability to make lanterns by the time I have a house big enough to worry about spawnproofing. I think the idea that torches are cheep so you use and relight till you have lanterns. Fair criticism tho not downplaying it

First off: The animated avatar looks cool, even if I still don't like the Minecraft models. You could use something like Veadotube for the whole animation thing, so after it's set up you can JUST use it. It's great, give it a try. Second: I can't wait for the third video, because there's not only new stuff, there's stuff that's CHANGED too. Your complain about fireclay would be... Different :) Third... Yeah, finding metals is never easy. You need to cover a large area because some of them do NOT appear in certain tipes of rock/soil. Fourth! Did you know you don't need bloomeries to make glass? Did you know you don't even need to make glass, you could find the specific merchant type and buy glass from them! Did you, in fact, know that you don't even need GLASS to make a greenhouse? :) Finally... Yeah, the 1.20 stable update is coming this month VERY SOON. Hold on to your elks, it's gonna be nuts.

6:33 *voxel - And wait until you figure out that you can use & combine multiple different blocks / materials within the same chiseled block... 10:48 You can excavate ruins or find underground ones for ruined torch holders, lanterns, and chandeliers. You can also craft lanterns out of various materials. And you can also find those sources from traders. Fire clay will be much rarer in 1.20, but can also be crafted.
