I checked my old 60s/70s home economics books and I found a paragraph (which is in Italian, so I won't send you a screenshot) about removing rust from silk: it says to cover the stain with salt, squeeze a few drops of lemon juice on it and rub with your finger. After that you can rinse in cold water. Hope it helps! That jacket is a real gem, and for 15 dollars?! Total score. Especially if I got that right it's from the same stall that had the (albeit super cute) fan for 6. You got me hooked on dress clips, Bianca! I want them, I want them all 😅😂

That is a darling vintage jacket! Why would anyone care about you converting your earrings, they are not museum pieces, they are meant to be worn! I could never wear my grannies screw back earrings either, I hated the way they held my lobes like a vice. Love the snake earrings - the 1920s Egyptian revival look will suit you, with your dark hair and Cleopatra vibe! You need a silver snake bangle or Egyptian-themed bracelet/cuff to go with those fab snake earrings. Loads to be found second hand on Ebay! I got a great pair of solid silver Egyptian cuffs from Ebay for a steal - I'm in the UK and bought them from a seller in Canada. They are original 1970s cuffs made and signed by a famous artisan jewellery maker of the time. I think set of 2 bold matching cuff bracelets looks amazing, one on each wrist. Thanks for a great video - I just discovered your channel and I like your style! XXX

@@TheClosetHistorian Have you considered a Cleopatra collar necklace too? Silver or gold tone would look amazing on you with your hairstyle. The ancient Egyptians were very chic, no wonder those 1920s & '30s gals stole their style! I'm addicted to gold hoop earrings too, in all sizes. Quality made hoops are hard to find, and the solid gold ones are expensive! I just found an amazing US jeweller on Ebay that makes fabulous sterling silver hoops with gold plating - beautiful quality and a steal at around $40 dollars for earrings that look like solid gold costing hundreds. Looking forward to your next video. I'd love to see how you wear your different dress clips, if you are ever inviting requests! XXX

As someone who hand makes earrings I feel compelled to speak up on the earring issue. If I make a pair of earrings and in a month, year, decade, or more someone wants to modify them? Im completely fine with it. It is theirs and as long as it isn't being added to a landfill Im good. I cant imaging those in the past would be upset to learn someone modified their product to keep it beings used. And if at some point in the future someone wants to make them clip ons again it can be done... so I'm really not certain what the big deal is. I can understanding wanting to preserve history but we have digital records and museums only have so much room so isnt it better to get more use out of it? On a very different note: Oh how jealous I am. None of the fares or thrift stores in my area are reasonably priced any more let alone cheep. Its gotten so bad Ive noticed people selling things from the dollars store asking for 3,4,5 bucks or more. Gone are the days of deals. On top of it the one thrift store regularly inflates prices to make certain its there for friends or just keep things for themselves. They are brazen about it, talking about it in front of costumers and everything. Makes me not want to donate but proceeds go to the local hospital which makes me feel like a jerk for going somewhere else. 😔

@raraavis77825 жыл бұрын
KnittyFreckles I have one! Put a little dab of clear kitchen silicone on the back, it’ll give you a nice, non-slip surface. It’s great for bag straps and scratchy/slippery shoe parts as well.
@knittyfreckles90135 жыл бұрын
@@raraavis7782 Thank you!!!
@raraavis77825 жыл бұрын
KnittyFreckles Pro-tip (in case, you‘ve never used the stuff): you need to dip your finger (or any tools you’re using to smooth it out) in water with a dash of dish soap. That will keep it from sticking to the wrong surface. And be careful...it’s next to impossible to remove again, once it’s set. Which takes about 24h.

Also the heavy earrings rubbing a little sunburn cream or spray with lidoderm before hand around lobes so helps. Plus a nude band-aid on inner backing of lobe helps support the weight.
