Im exploring how to get a Vintage look with a Side Shave. I also started wearing hats and Head scarfs again
@imse8110 ай бұрын
A velvet headband (made for wearing underneath headscarves, hijab, etc) takes wearing headscarves to a new level. You can wear silky scarves with no bobby pins or clips. It took me 20 min to sew a headband in thin velvet. It is not too warm in the summer.

I see myself as more of a vintage enthusiast than a purist. I just love old things: cars, fashion, architecture, household items . . . A lot of it came from movies, television, and my grandmother. She was born in 1910, from New York, and a true ‘lady’ of her generation. I remember as a kid in the late 60s and 70s admiring her antiques, frieze upholstery, the way she always wore gloves when driving and an apron in the kitchen, her beautiful dishes, big cars, and etiquette. Anyway, I look forward to enjoying your channel. 💜

I am going to try that last one tomorrow because I have a curly hairpiece thingie that would work...my rolls are still somewhat lacking although I am managing the U shaped Middy and pin curls pretty good nowadays, I make sure to refresh my set with pin curls and a misting of water between sets and doing it every night, you get into a routine and the pin curls become second nature. I am still really unsure of scarves but you gave us plenty here to work with. I am really enjoying this latest foray into vintage dressing as the forties and fifties seem so much more flattering to curvy figures and more mature ladies like myself!

Any recommendations for gray or silver hair? Your dark hair makes a beautiful frame for your face that is complimentary to the look of the turban. Darker colors are getting too harsh but I’m not really excited about lighter colors either. I’m sure there’s an obvious solution that I’m over looking.

After a recent illness I lost a lot of hair. I have to wear it up and it probably does not look great. I expect people would snicker if I wore a scarf because I only know one person who does so refularly but not in the vintage style. But maybe a matching skirt and a dose of confidence would go far. A small triangular headscarf was popular in the 60's. They were a smaller triangle that had bias tape ties; we tied it under our chin or in the back under our hair.

These are SO CUTE! Thank you! Question: Do you secure them with pins anywhere? I find they slip off my head unless I tie them so tight that my ears hurt! Any tricks?
@TheGlambassador Жыл бұрын
I usually don’t need to pin them. The way that I do my hair underneath usually anchors the scarves pretty well. But a few well placed bobby pins could help to secure it as well.

It's a 1940s concept , nothing new , only we didn't tie such big knots on the front of head, we used it to cover curlers .
@TheGlambassador2 жыл бұрын
Turbans are not a 1940s concept, they've been around for a lot longer than that. Also they were most definitely worn as a fashion piece, not just to cover curlers in the 1940s. There are many historical references to wearing a fashion turban even with large knots or flowers and feathers.
