I love your channel and the two of you. I collected oarts of my custom car for twenty years. Shortly after I retired the doctors descended with their stoic and grim opinions. I feel great but cannot leave my bed for the bext 60 days while they get ready to do something. I have forced my wife and son to make me a work bench and tools as a part of my bed. I can grind, sand, clean and fit all the little stuff. I will start the conversion of the 6 volt dash to 12 volt soon. The bench over my bed is large enough to draw out the wiring disgram. The fed-ex guy is fully on board and comes in to see how I am doing. I beat most panels into submission but cannot weld from my bed. So I work on perfecting everything else. I August I will be welding even if I am in a chair. I have already confirmed that the welding will not interfere with my pace maker. I have a year left on the Clipler “B”. So that shkuld be just about right. Love you, love cars, love America.

Glad to hear you haven't given up Larry. Too many do on doctors advice. I'd be on a mobility scooter except for an honest older doctor telling me to keep riding bicycles. I have physical problems now due to a life of hard and/or heavy work and bike riding is the only exercise I can do that doesn't hurt, well not too much anyway, lol.

Ian watching transmission install and did not see throw out bearing install on clutch arm. The bearing drives on sleeve so that it has solid mount for that back-and-forth movement. Turn bearing so large surface is touching pressure plate arms. Pinion is sometimes longer than the bellhousing so it can get into the engine crankshaft bushing. New bolts will allow you check on bearing and replace bolts.

I use to rebuild clutches when I was 18, trucks,Army tanks ,drag cars those were great days ,but there was possibly 2 things were missing on the thro out bearing that attaches too the thro out fork .their should of been 2 spring clip type things that holds the thro out bearing too the clutch fork so that both thro out bearing & fork stay together ,I also noticed that there wasn't a spring that holds the fork over the ball that the clutch fork pivots on too. But what I know I only rebuilt the actual clutch itself. Ps. I hope you don't have to pull it all apart, cause that looked frustrating 😒 😂👍

Release bearing may be on backwards ?????? In the 1950’s International trucks had the same set up, bearing goes almost all the way on the collar then a hammer and block of wood seats it the rest of the way. then only the outer part of the bearing rotates. The complete gearing shouldn’t spin on the collar………….Love your show…..

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The wide side of the bearing has a hardened face. That is what is designed to press against the fingers on the pressure plate.

Hi Jamie and Ian !! Man the jeep is getting there ! Gonna be Cool , Cool ! Always a bummer when parts don't fit the way they should...I wouldn't have figured jeep would be that way , but it is what it is. Years ago I did a few restorations on British motorcycles. A lot of the aftermarket parts were made in India. They were awful ! You wouldn't think it would be more expensive to make parts that fit than one's that don't ! Can't wait to see the old Willy's in action !! Take Care !
@johnjunge69894 ай бұрын
The throw out bearing has a hardened face to press against the clutch forks. It should be press fit to assure the bearing spins on forks but not on the release bearing housing. Older clutch linkages usually are a rod that has a ball ( for pivot ), and not cables, all mechanical. The ball pulls against the fork and releases the pressure plate.
