Unless you have asthma or are allergic to mold, it's only really a health problem if you eat it. Even black mold. It's a common misconception that simply being around it or breathing it is dangerous. It's not. And if you ARE allergic or have Asthma, it will irritate your lungs and can cause harm long term, but it's not going to like instant risk killing you or anything like eating peanuts will to someone who's allergic to them. Your breathing will just get bad, and you gotta remove yourself from the situation.

Yeah, most of the ppls think that mold (in cars) = places where you see it, where someone has touched their hands. But unfortunately that's not true at all. There'll be mold even under the floor carpeting, behind the door cards, inside the dash, inside the seats (cushion), inside the HVAC system & piping, etc. "It smells a bit" says Ed around 11:40 mark. Telltale how much moldy crap there's still in the cabin when it stinks even just after the cleaning / sterilizing process.

All the rubber on the tie rod ends and ball joints are rotted away by now. I am sure it is only a matter of time before seals start to leak as well. Rubber does not like to sit unlubricated. Went through all this on a 02 Thunderbird that had sat for 10 yrs in a garage. A customer brought it to the Ford dealership I worked at. Ended up having to do all the suspension bushings a power steering pump and a rack and pinion. It had 3500 miles on it. He only learned he had a issue when it started dumping power steering fluid onto his garage floor.

Thanks for that additional info on the start up. That is good negotiation. The cost for a part that can be a factor in price being worth more than the block is a very reasonable consideration. If one can negotiate the price of a block down in the purchase, even better. "Seller, knock of the price of exhaust because dont know condition, or price of the block because might cause engine issues starting to verify the exhaust" If was going to pull engine, then okay. Did he borescope the cylinders first? Still. What if exhaust was bad AND now damaged internals?

You may have already answered this. But why did you not clean it first?

Ed didn't answer that. Seems odd to have his mechanics working in a biohazard and then clean it up. Maybe they wanted to see if it would run before putting any more into it, but the mechanics may have issues down the road. When they show the brief clips of the mechanic driving it, I think the int looked like it had been cleaned so maybe there was some editing tomfoolery happening.

It all happened rather simultaneously. It was already cleaned when Cameron was driving it. We shot the transitions later, hence the continuity errors.

I have to say for a nearly 20-year-old car, the styling has aged very well. It doesn’t match the angular, faceted design language we have today, But also does not look terribly dated.

Hope the mould doesn’t live behind the panels. I‘d have expected this to be a full interior/dash out job to get rid of everything.
