Just found your channel. Now subscribed. I like the different types of music. I’ve been interested in Quicksilver for a while. I know antique dealer with several of them for cheap. I think I’ll check them out. I’m sitting on 954 albums. Rock jazz country blues and soul. When I reach 1000 records I’m starting a channel. The Vinyl Crabb. I love watching the digging. Thanks.

Thanks so much John! Quicksilver is a great band, but has gone through a few different iterations, their most popular usually being with the first few records! But look forward to seeing some videos soon!

Crossroads is a great record shop, I find it's definitely more expensive these days across the board. I actually live in Eugene.
@trentsrecords2 жыл бұрын
Oh awesome! I was just down in Eugene recently! If you check out my latest video I show some of the stuff I grabbed while I was down there. I love it down that way. Agreed about Crossroads getting pricey though. Kinda stinks, but what can ya do? Cheers man!

Good finds! And I totally agree with you about Trane.
@trentsrecords2 жыл бұрын
I love when Trane plays standards and bluesy stuff. His tone is great for it, but I also love his more spiritual stuff as well. Never understand why some people dislike standards, think it’s a great measure of a band

Hey Paul, thank you for the sub and the comment! Parish Hall is some great straight forward blues rockin, and I love the stones and dead too. I can never get enough of workingman’s dead, but if you ever want any jazz recommendations feel free to reach out!

Hello Trent, that is quite an interesting haul. Videos like this makes wish I was still in the PNW. Don't want to undercut my very nice local dealer, but options are limited on the northern prairie. The McDonald and Giles album would have been an instant pickup for me. I find myself gravitating to probably not much for videos longer than 15-20 mins on the upside with few exceptions. (And I just subbed your channel, so have not caught more than this and perhaps on other one). Getting some listening in along with other adulting leaves limited time. Trying curtail the length of my own videos a bit, and still have work to do. Always enjoy variety and not just the very hottest out there. Cheers, Richard
@trentsrecords2 жыл бұрын
Hey Richard, I appreciate the comment and the sub! I subbed back as well, and I do realize I am very fortunate to live in an area where record stores are easily accessible and I try to take advantage of that! The McDonald and Giles is a great album! I never even see the US pressing, so was very stoked to find an original UK! But I try to show everything in picking up rather than just the biggest and baddest albums out there, because I find all music to be exciting and I pick each album up for a certain reason so why not showcase that? I too am trying to curb the length of my videos, but sometimes I can’t find the time to make shorter videos also due to adulting. Cheers Richard!

Hey Trent! Was scrolling through KZbin and your thumbnail with the MC5 piqued my interest. Can’t go wrong with KOTJ (even if it is censored)! They’re are hometown heroes to me. Have met Wayne Kramer on a couple of occasions. Super cool guy. I was also happy to see another WA guy here in the VC, I’m near Tacoma. Great video and keep up the great work!

Wow, that’s so awesome! I grew up an hour south of Detroit so they kinda are for me too, ever since my dad showed me MC5! But that’s awesome! I’m happy to see someone else from WA here too. U need to get down to Turntable Treasures and Hi-voltage again soon. Thank you and Cheers!

@@trentsrecords I’ve been to Hi Voltage many times. Still need to make it to Turntable Treasures. Lately I’ve been going to Atomic Genius in Puyallup. They just opened this past summer and is a fairly small shop. They’re also the closest shop to me. I’ve even curtail my online shopping and having them order it for me. Just want them to stay in business. So, were you from downriver? I grew up in Clarkston about 2 miles north of Pine Knob.

Good stuff man. I'm a huge reggae fan myself, so I can recommend a!lot. However reggae is kind of weird because 70s and newer is where it becomes more "album" focused, like the famous Marley albums for instance, which are mostly "roots" reggae. I'm a bigger fan of 60's reggae though which is mostly ska, rocksteady, and skinhead reggae (derived from the mods). But 60's reggae is mostly a singles market, not an album one. That's why you'll mostly see 60's material for album format in compilation format. But of course some of those artists do cross over into 70's territory. Some artists I'd recommend, and some of my favorites are Desmond Dekker, Bob & Marcia, Alton Ellis, Laurel Aitken, Derrick Morgan, Prince Buster, Phyliss Dillon and Ken Boothe for starters. For bands I'd say The Upsetters, Pioneers, Symparip, Harry J Allstars, The Matytals, Heptones and Paragons for starters. Particular albums would take too long to list here, but you get the idea. But don't get me wrong, I love 70's reggae and I can drop a whole 'nother list of that too besides the cliché artists everyone knows. I guess it all depends what style appeals to you more, (just like jazz) after you go down the rabbit hole. Cheers, man!

Hey man! I apologize for the late response here. Was on a backpacking trip and am just now getting back into the swing of things with the channel and such. I truly appreciate all the recommendations and knowledge here!! Some of those names sound familiar and some do not so it looks like I’ve got some further exploring to do in my future. Definitely do agree that it’s just like jazz in the finding your style area, and I still need to find what appeals to me best. Thank you again, cheers!

Me again!! Try outer sleeves from Vinyl Storage Solutions. Expensive, but SO worth it. Crystal clear. I used the 12inch 4mm
@trentsrecords2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, I appreciate all of your input! I’ve been needing a steady supply of outer sleeves, usually get em at a certain local store, but they recently switched to a cheaper thinner outer sleeve so I’ll look up vinyl storage solutions! Thank you for the video feedback as well! I usually just press record and go as well, and I just tend to spew whatever knowledge I have of something haha. That’s how I do it in real life so I’ll probably just keep doing that in my videos! Lastly, crossroads is a very cool store. I’ve seen some pretty incredible records I haven’t seen anywhere else when digging there and also tons of classics for more than fair prices. Quite a few of the sellers specialize in certain genres as well. Big reggae and jazz sections, tons of rock (not surprising), but also quite a few sellers selling psych/hard rock as well. Pretty cool! Cheers Mike
