I assume you are playing it fast to prevent a strike?

I'm not to sure let me look. Best way would be to show you in a video. Let me try and sort something out for you. Its a lot of guess work and has taken me and dad 2 years of trials to get this far. For now I suggest a website called lathe trolls as that has been useful to us. I think the needle is more of a cone. We made the jig to make the needles but everyone comes out different at the moment until the jig is right. You need a fine soft sander and a good magnifying glass. I. Happy to make you some videos when I can.

Are you slowing down the speed on purpose? i'm guessing to maybe cut the record with a different fidelity when played back normal speed?

Hi Daniel, first of all congrat!! I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina..I'm making my diy lathe too, what about the needle that you have? you made it? I make one, and it hasnt high frecuences just bass..can you share experience? Thank you so much!
@danielsmith-jb2ec5 жыл бұрын
I made the needle. You need free music app for the computer called audacity. In that programme you need to make an riaa eq curve. That should stop the bass being heavy and give you high end frequency

@@danielsmith-jb2ec Thank you very much for answering, the cutting needle you made is conical? Or is it shaped like sapphire needles? How many degrees did you do the tip? Do you have any way to show me how I can make one for myself?

I like that you took the effort to slow the source track down and recorded at slower speed to try to get better high frequency on normal speed playback & even using dual drivers 90* offset for stereo. Are you using a reverse RIAA curve? I had better sound using a glass stylus but the required sharpness and angle \/ made it so fragile I was replacing it often. My lathe from 2013 on my old youtube channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWbbm4xvn7-Bo9U (recording from 0:17 - 1:32 and playback after)

Интересное решение! 👍👍👍 Но почему звук такой глухой? Из-за режущей иглы? 🤔
@nihirash3 жыл бұрын
Потому что для записи на винил нужна специальная эквайлизация - низа и нижняя середина очень сильно срезаются(так как они на виниле намного легче передаются, чем верха). Recording sounds muffled cause for vinyl(and vinyl-like) recordings should be applied special equalization - it should have cutted bass and lo-mid freqs cause low freqs are easier to record and it makes punch of them.
