Speaker going lower in volume them coming back. Recently had that happen on one of my systems. Realized it was because there was some dirt build up on the input knob of the selector switch (you know, where you choose phono, Aux, tape1, tape 2, etc). I sprayed some deoxit behind the knob, turned it back and forth 8 or 9 times...boom...problem solved.

I immediately took that Victrola suitcase vinyl player back for a refund! I got my money back and purchased the Fluance RT85n with a Pre-amp that Fluance sells as well. I was freaking out over my set up so far since I didn’t want to drop some more money on a receiver then I found out I actually had Active two way speakers that have been in the box collecting dust in the corner of my room. These Active speakers are the Pioneer DJ DM-40 Watt. I’m so excited for my RT85n and to set it up! I even got a cleaning kit for my future records and some storage bins I bought as well! Once I had gotten back into vinyl, stand up and comedy was something I got into in a big way. Eddie murphy’s raw/delirious was why. He mentions Richard prior albums getting him in to comedy, and then I spotted The Goodies and Nothe the Nine o’clock News albums in local thrift stores. The latter there being Monty python precursor and later British comedy inspired by. It’s a different experience of comedy but a wonderful slice of a different period of comedy.

Hi, great video as usual. I've not finished watching it yet, but, I wanted to comment on your saying be patient and wait for the repressing of an album if the original pressing is too expensive. I have a coveted John Mayall with Eric Clapton album, both in its 1966 first pressing and in a modern pressing. The modern pressing is only worth £27 but the original is worth over £200. The sound of the 1966 version (even with the crackles) is so much better than the repress. It's how Mayall heard it at the time. I Also have Beatles albums that I bought in the '60's (I'm that old) and I prefer the original mix that they have to any modern repressing. It doesn't matter if the original recording was made in the last 20-30 years when everything has become digital and compressed....but if you are collecting 1960's-80's artists and records that were recorded before digital recording then go for the original recording rather than the repress. That's why I buy stuff at record fairs. To get the original. x

Great video! The only thing you're off about in my opinion and experience is the sound quality of cassettes. Recording onto a Nakamichi Dragon lets say, which has a frequency response of 20-22k (better than virtually any CD player) or similar high-end deck from a very good analog source would most likely run circles around most if not all moderately priced turntable set-ups including your Fluance/Ortofon combo and my own set-up as well (No offense) The recording on a properly calibrated Nak are very difficult to distinguish from whatever source one records from. This means if you record from something like a technics SL-1000R and appropriate cartridge im confident that the Tape recording made on a Dragon will outperform any record played directly on any lesser turntable. i would actually recommend people buy a quality cassette deck, so they record their rare or frequently used vinyl on it. This will help prevent wear or damage to their records.

@natas3.142 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree, or when leaving the dust cover off, as it does look cooler, you may hear if/when the stylus comes into contact with that single loose hair that has been hitching on your shoulder since lunch, finally decides to jump ship, & lands between track 3, & 4. I will stop the platter, give the record a quick wipe, just in case, & clean the stylus. Nothing worse than getting into the music, only for it to suddenly sound...off, usually during the best song. Now I just leave the dust cover on though as the new housemate, Elvis who happens to be an audiophile, & a cat favours the audio room.

Ceramic cartridges tend to track harder and don't have the amount of frequency response as a magnetic. I'd go for a magnetic cartridge because it's required tracking force is less, leading to longer lasting records, and the better quality that it will provide.

What of you get a new used 12” record and played it and the volume sounds low and play something else and sounds twice as loud. This 12” was professionally by the seller and forget what it was called. I’m wondering if cleaning the record may have damaged the grooves. Have you heard anything about that? I also ordered about 18 records from discogs and what annoyed me bc all were VG+ and about 13?came without the inner sleeve and marked up my records. Also, if you have a NM or NM- are you not supposed to play them or the grades will go down? Even if you keep them in good shape? I mean all my records you don’t see any marks and kept them like new since buying. So most came past for NM- but some of the grading videos says NM means never played. So ppl. who have near mint records, I never able to play them? How about switching original record covers to make one excellent copy? Is that a no no bc of the pressing plant and date? Or that doesn’t matter yet bc it goes by the records?

I have an AT-LP60X turntable, which unfortunately does not have the ability to replace the stylus. What should I do if the stylus breaks or is in terrible condition?

The cartridge is the part that is permanently attached to that turntable. The stylus can be changed or upgraded. They wouldn't make you pay a big price for a good turntable just to make it useless after the stylus wares out because of proper use.

I don’t know but I think the band Opeth is a good band when beginning to listen to death/black metal, especially considering you are a great fan of tools! With that being said, could I recommend song of the day -- Ghost of Perdition, by Opeth? Love your channel👍🤜

Why aren't side B of my vinyl not working?Hello recently purchased several new vinyl recordings and a turntable. On my side two of the vinyl records are not playing well; they are slowing down, becoming muffled, and occasionally the stylus gets stuck in the same spot. This problem is causing me a lot of worries. I initially assumed it was the turntable, but it turns out that it isn't because one of my vinyl records is operating flawlessly from all sides while the other two records aren't working from side 2/B while side A is good. I made an effort to figure out what was going on, and I discovered that side B on both vinyl albums is causing the vinyl to rise and fall while spinning, which slows them down and contributes to the muffled voice (I m not sure if it is a main problem).

You’re records might be warped. Make sure to keep them in a cool dry place. They might also be dirty. You should give them a good clean and see if they work then. It might also be your turntable. Make sure your stylus is clean and in good condition. Also make sure your turntable is level. Hope this helps! (:

I would that either the REVOX B975 or the MARANTZ TT143 are worth but the lid must be down on the MARANTZ TT143 or it won't play.

dont get me wrong, the Audio Technica LP120 is awesome, but does anyone know why the tone arm was designed NOT to return automatically to its rest position when the record has finished ?

i have the audio Technica lp60 which has an automatic tonearm, and while it does move when i press play, it doesn't move far enough that it actually touches the record. do you have any solutions to that?
