Viofo A229 versus Viofo A129: It's time to Upgrade

Appreciate the video! I personally already have a 4K A129 PRO 2CH so I feel the 4K A229 2CH isn't much of an upgrade other then the rear camera up to 2k. I wish there were some more videos on a 4k vs 4k comparison.

Excellent video ❤❤ I own an A119 and i decided to upgrade to a 229 2k. Its perfect for my needs 100 agreed about 4k and video compression. You will need at least 1G memory to run it correctly Even if the camera support the memory it its way out to expensive. So ill wait 2 or 3 years more to jump on a 4k dash

Very informative video, thanks for the details. I stay in India and specially in summer it's gets to about 40+ C... Do you think A229 would last in such conditions. If not what are the other alternatives?

Yo DT, Love the new review / content. So far my “long term” update with the A229 is the speaker is now completely blown due to the overwhelming volume of the lady in the box voice notifications. I have preemptively adjusted the volume of the voice notifications on my A139 Pro in the firmware APP settings so it doesn’t blow out as well. I wish the A229 had the same APP setting. I notified Viofo via DCT Forum post, and they thumbed up my complaint / firmware update request. So maybe we’ll see it added in a future firmware update. -Chuck

She is SO LOUD compared to other cameras. It's very nice though, in some cases I could not tell if the other cam had locked the footage but with the A229 I could always hear it even at highway speeds. Hopefully they do add a way to turn it down, I did not even think about the speaker longer term. Thanks for the comment :)

Best to contact Viofo. This way they can find a solution before building more new A229's also you should politely ask Viofo to repair or replace your device as it is a manufacturer defect.

@@agglad2230 Yes, however the all new A229 Pro & A229 Plus will be released next month on 9/30/23 so just wait for the new models. The new models will have STARVIS 2 sensors & HDR. So kind of a big leap forward. -Chuck

Got the A229 as my first cam. No way to start the wifi automatically, no geofencing options at all. They include a nice base so you can quickly disconnect the cam, but the rearview cam is still connected to the cam directly and not the base, so you still have to unplug that everytime.

I'd love to see the rear cam connected to the base in the future so the main unit can be disconnected as one piece. Or, have both lenses as remote units and the main recording box hidden under the dash.

As with most things said that they are improved, for every one step forward, take 2 steps backwards. You get an improvement but you have to sacrifice more than you've bargain for. You have to realize that Progress does not necessarily mean it is a good thing. "You can please some people some of the time, but you cannot please all the people all of the time." So, there you have it my friend, either take it or leave it. Enjoy life and be happy. If you have patience, maybe something better will come around.

I think it's the USB mini that's causing my A119 duo to fail. I think if I drive over a bump it shakes the cable lose briefly so my dashcam crashes. That's my suspicion that. It's good they moved to a more robust coax.

@Ralph Reilly Turns out it wasn''t the mini USB. It was the G sensor. Turned it off and it stopped crashing.

I own the A129 Pro and I can tell you that the quality is the same as the A229 Pro. Video rigged to encourage purchase. But in your video, the quality is disgusting
