I pre-ordered the A329 last night, and looks like a good decision. I'm hoping some of the overheating issues of the A229pro have been solved as I live in northern Australia. Thanks for all your videos, they are a great help.

I've seen several of your videos and like how you cover them in excellent detail. Like noniespam, I am thinking about the a229 or a329 as Viofo seems to be at the top of many lists. I was leaning toward the Vantrue N4 Pro but I especially like that Viofo actually listens to the users and implements firmware upgrades to accomplish some of their requests. I've read and looked at a lot of articles and videos, so much so that I've got way too much info in my head to keep straight between the two models. I understand the basic differences between them, 60fps with non-HDR and no internal camera (which I really don't want) but am concerned about the HDR. On one website?, a person said they could simply set the a229 IIRC to auto and it would do it automatically but they upgraded the firmware and now it requires you to input the times. I've also read that the a229 is also the same as the a329 where you're supposed to set it to auto and then put the turn on and off times for it to work automatically but may be confused with seeking too much knowledge in a short period of time. I live in SW Colorado where both the sunrise and sunset times vary as much as 3-4 hours between summer and winter. I really don't want to change it every couple of weeks for the changing sunrise/sunset times. Do both the a229 and a329 have the same auto HDR where you have to manually input the times and if so, is there any way around this other than not using HDR? TIA!
@SafeDriveSolutionsАй бұрын
So not sure what the IIRC is. But I dont remember the A229 Pro ever doing that. It was on/off then they added the timer later on for HDR. But i do feel that was a very early firmware. Both untis have auto hdr which I am not a fan of using due to the time it takes to change over to HDR or normal. You can use HDR on or HDR OFF. you could get a new BTR200 wireless bluetooth remote from Viofo and program the action button for HDR on and HDR OFF. www.viofo.com/products/viofo-btr200-wireless-bluetooth-remote-control

great review - night time is always the hardest for a camera to pick up details. People usually only show daytime clips, which will always work well. Don't know why sensors can't change the contrast on overbright sections within a view, rather than averaging the whole view. What would I know... LOL My 2000s Logitech USB web cam, used as a dash cam, could do it. If the sun was in the picture, it would 'black' out the sun, leaving the rest of the picture in clear normally exposed clear view.

Thank you for mentioning both km/h and mph! There is a world outside of America and Canada! 😂 But seriously, wow what an upgrade in the A329. Must be that chipset and better ISP and image processing 😮
@crashoverride64132 ай бұрын
well, that's at least a first test (i wished, there were another with different light situations on day, where also were looked at the licence plates and if they're readable) for the A329 what i've had seen... there's atm no german video, so i'm thankful for also telling the speed in km/h and not only mph. when both might have the same sensor, it seems that viofo had changed maybe the chipset, so that the image can be processed better... the only downside is, that you can't use the telephoto-camera for the A229 pro with the A329 (what would be a nice upgrade, especially when you want also to be able to read the licence plates on day as even night in a bigger distance).

There is a different chipset on the A329. Also you lose interior camera, on this A329. Can not add a telelphoto either. So there are some positives. But keep in mind this is not the same price as the A229 Pro. This is over $100 more. So you would expect it to have something better other than SSD.....

@@SafeDriveSolutions the quad core a53 chipset has been out for over a decade, no reason viofo couldn't do this last year with the a229 pro. and no reason this should be $100 more than the a229 pro either, don't think i'll be buying any more viofo dashcams, my a229 pro will be the last one

@@SteveBennet500so when Apple and Android release a new phone with a better camera and a different chip and charge $100-$200 more for it than last years product. Is that not the same thing? Or am I missing something….
@SteveBennet5002 ай бұрын
@@SafeDriveSolutions My galaxy phones have cost the same the last few years, there simply isn't $100 worth of improvements in this dashcam. the image quality is not mind blowing, its an incremental upgrade imo that everyone expects every year. that a53 chipset might have cost more but the old image sensor probably costs less 1 year later.
@SafeDriveSolutions2 ай бұрын
@@SteveBennet500 Yeah i agree they should have had 3 channel support which gives you the option of telephoto or interior camera but still gave the new SSD support. I could have done without the HDMI output as I doubt anyone will ever use it.

What is the boot up time on the A329? My A229 Pro takes between 18s and 25s to start recording with a Samsung 512gb card?
@SafeDriveSolutions2 ай бұрын
It is a good question. But my viofo a229 pro does not take that much time.It could be the SD card you using. Because I do find when people use 3rd party SD cards it takes longer to boot.

At the risk of you deleting more of my posts :) The image quality is only slightly better with the A329. I can notice it the most when viewing the buildings, lights, signs, and lettering. I can not find the justification for upgrading from my A229; not even sure I will upgrade to the next A339 as it seems that VIOFO have lost their way with this A329 offering. Will wait and see, maybe VIOFO will surprise me on the A339, or whatever it will be called.

I have recieved calls from people who watch our channel asking me why I never responded to one of their comments. The comment was not even there. I have found that ocassionally 3 months later In my TubeBuddy account i will all of a sudden have a comment that was flagged and there is no method as to why it was even flagged. I only delete someone trying to pitch there product on our channel. But yeah I would not upgrade from A229 Pro to a A329. That is silly. Unless you really wanted SSD. I do look forward to take all the mixed feedback from different people who watch the videos and talking to Viofo face to face in 4 weeks. I also have my opinions on what their next product should have been. What i have to remember is they may have built this for a bigger market like Asia. Who may want some of these features and North America may want something different.
