This anime was great, it is a real rollercoaster of emotions. Not something I would have normally watched but ended up watching the whole season in a few days. Starts slow, picks up and the character development is some of the best that exists imo. Just a great show.

ok so here's my pitch this show better than almost any is so good at conveying and showing how we find emotion it's not some super fun crazy show it's a show with great characters and stories that build great emotional climaxes every episode especially after the first three episodes fully establish our world as well as the goal of the plot and begin Violet's emotional journey most episode's a re their own contained stories in this world but they all help to grow Violet's understanding of emotions and feelings helping her grow into a real person and discover the meaning of those words she wants to understand so honestly please keep watching

It's a very realistic anime. One of them said the pacing is slow and don't like it but in my many years of watching anime sometimes.....a slow pace is good I get that it's boring at first but if you really feel the character if they can emotionally connect with the characters Rather than just watching and analyzing it's really good. A slow paced story progression can answer many questions and can tell the story more in depth rather than a fast pacing. Violet evergarden is really really good actually it's not just good it's above good so sadly they didn't continue watching it

You should definitely continue it. It's definitely a slow burn, but it's not just a love story between her and Gilbert. It's about how she gradually adjusts to life after war by writing heartfelt letters for other people. And just about every episode will wreck you emotionally, in some capacity.

@Astrial Xema Nope, it's never a guarantee. Even if they enjoy the show a lot (e.g. Re:Zero) they won't continue it unless it gets ridiculous views or demand. They only react to it because it's what the patron wants, and the patron donates knowing that they'll only be watching a single episode. I think it's an extremely pointless system because it almost never goes anywhere and leads to more disappointment than excitement because they won't continue the show, if anything. The people who request stuff for them to watch should stick to single episode media like movies and etc.

My pitch: Violet Evergarden is a story about trauma, war, and love in all forms. Violet, a child soldier, has to learn how to integrate into a society that doesn't have constant fear or bloodshed. It starts off slow, in order to introduce you to the characters and general theme. It's episodic in nature, meaning there's a new substory every episode, similar to typical shonen anime (ex. Naruto), so if you don't like one story, another one might catch your interest. I tried explaining without spoiling as much as possible! I hope y'all continue VE! It's one of my favourites :)

I was skeptical when this show first came out, so it took me a while to get around to watching this. I finally decided to watch the first episode at 1030 at night. As the first episode ended I just accepted that I wasn't sleeping that night and binged the whole thing in 1 shot. Didn't get to sleep until about 4 AM. I have never cried so consistently for any show in any genre of any medium. Every episode hurt on a deep emotional level, and somehow made me desperate for more at the same time.

This show is definitely a bit of a slow burn, but that's kind of the point. It's only twelve episodes, so you'd be done with it pretty quick, too. In my opinion it's one of the best representations of PTSD and loss (especially in a post-war setting) that I have ever seen. The episodic format really lends itself to fleshing out the world and the characters bit by bit, and if nothing else stay on until episode 10, because hoooly shit, it is easily one of the best episodes of anime I have seen, period. This is seriously some oscar-level storytelling, and when the action is kicked up, it is amazing. Plus the animation is consistently fucking gorgeous the entire way through. Just a solid series all around. I also (as someone who is not averse to dubs) recommend the subbed version.
