Personally I'd suggest not doing the movie version, but rather an original song composed for Tolkien's original poem. "Edge of Night" as amazing of a song as it was in the film doesn't do justice to the song sung by Pippin in Denethor's Hall as Tolkien had originally written it.

Okay, maybe I'm just weird for noticing this, but I love watching two people sing the same song together, because the WAY they sing is different. Just the oral posture alone is unique to each of them. I dunno if that's due to different teachers or vocal lessons, or if it's down to the ranges of their voices, but it's fascinating! Violet tends to be more rounded and with the jaw dropping lower, while Malinda has more...projection, I guess, in the lips, and the corners of the mouth go back a little. It's like different interpretations of the same melody come out in their faces. With Malinda, it's like a lullaby. For Violet, it's a lament.

I noticed this too! They both have different vocal tones. Violet's singing has a more dark operatic tone. Malinda's voice has a brighter sound. I love their voices together it sounds really pretty and unique.
@eirintowne2 жыл бұрын
In this case I would hazard a guess at having trained according to what their natural voices held. Malinda's clear silver bells lends itself to classical training, and she employs much of the sound placement and intonation, as well as the breathing techniques to her full advantage and tops it off with complete mastery of Celtic singing style. It is my first time hearing and seeing Violet, so what strikes me is how unprocessed her gorgeous voice is. Her singing style is very relaxed, allowing a ton of air through the pipes along with the tone, and this is normally accepted, even encouraged in jazz singing.
