Thanks for the shout out, Cheryl - very good of you! I'm guessing that it must be something about the shape of the body or neck or scroll that tells an expert eye that a violin is probably Italian. In this case it couldn't have been the tone! Good to see you giving a thumbs up, Mr. Winters. Have a good week, both of you.

The Hebrew Minute is from Psalm 91:1. I'm doing Comforting Psalms with one of the ladies I spiritually mentor. What makes a violin get so many cracks? I'm guessing you look at the sound holes and dimensions to decide what country the violin is from. Maybe the pegs and peg holes too. Thanks for another great video! Have a good week.

Thanks for showing the comparison pictures on the different ff-holes, it makes it a lot clearer. The 'Hebrew Minute' is from 'What Fay said'. Gerald, your violin looks really nice, Good Job. Sir! Mr. Pinch, congratulations on your wonderful new channel! What a pleasure to hear your music. The Churches, organs and artwork are just lovely. Cheryl - I can't remember the 3 traits that make you think a certain violin is Italian. Maybe, 1- a fully round scroll, not mashed in in the front. 2- thinner (or narrower) purfling??? 3- more volutes in the scroll???? I'm just guessing. Stupidicus.

I have got it!! The scroll is different, the F holes are different and the third clue is the label that says made by Stradivarius! Right?
@Violinsforu2 Жыл бұрын
You are hilarious! Actually, we should say the first clue is to look at the label, right? 🤣But you bring up a great point, the label is the one area that can lie😝😂!!!! thanks for commenting! You made me laugh.

Hi Cheryl, regarding to the Italian violin, do you have any comments todo about the scroll, the purffling, or the bombatura of the plates?
@Violinsforu2 Жыл бұрын
Congratulations! You got 2 of them, the scroll and the plates. Purfling is another sign but not major. Thanks for commenting! Hope you have a great week!

I ONLY KNOW ''ONE'' ASPET OF THE ITALIAN tops, being a little raised belly *under the fingerboard' and the ''sides'' squeezed in a bit, if that is usual or not i don't know
@Violinsforu2 Жыл бұрын
That is a good guess. That is related to a certain period of time and can get muddied into all the different makes and get really complicated. Thanks for commenting and hope you have a great week!

That violin must be Italian because it smells like pasta. On a more serious note, up until what time frame can we attribute a violin model to a general geographical area, as opposed to regional characteristics being muddied by everyone being heavily inspired by everyone else, or just flat out copying models from half way across the world?
@Violinsforu2 Жыл бұрын
Yes! I think that this time period we are in now is going to be quite muddied. All those experts a couple hundred years from now might just throw in the towel or have a fancy name for this period of time. Maybe they wont even be using wood anymore. Now you got me on a string of ideas! Thank you for commenting and have a wonderful week!
