ViolinClass Thank you!! Did you ever answer the question at the end, about how to do string crossings without changing the amount of bow hair? Thanks again, and these videos are fantastic!

Thank you always for your videos. Just a quick question - is it bad to have that tilt when you do string crossing, and if so, how can one minimize that?

I've noticed when trying to play quickly I often over shot the string I'm aiming for. like if I go from d to a I'll hit the e string

Hello Julia. This is Yasmine from Kuwait. My German violin teacher teaches me that in order for me to move the bow up the string, I must move my arm in a wave-like motion that starts from raising the elbow up as I reach mid-bow and the hand responds to the wave, and then the fingers must curl up on the bow as the bow comes down again. How valid is this method, because I have not seen any violinist anywhere on KZbin or social media move his/her bow in a wave-like motion?

Since it is very difficult to describe precise movements in words, many people use different words and phrases. It looks like your teacher is trying to get you to bow in a relaxed and natural way. Please watch my videos on the Bow Hand. There are three of them. In one of them, I address your question.
