Join me for a 26 hour call shift and learn about day in the life of a doctor! Today I'm on call for nephrology, the medical specialty of the kidneys. I see our admitted patients first, then new patients in the emergency department and I deal with any emergencies that arise overnight.

@@burnt.norton, as a resident, she works at minimum wage because she is not officially certified to practice medicine. Once she finishes residency, she'll get paid a lot more.

the enthusiasm, the smile, the fact that even a 26-hour shift is not enough to break a doctor's spirit and continue into the day, albeit, tired (lol), is the reason I am pursuing medicine. Kudos to you and the many others who spend hours treating and making people's lives better!

See this is what makes the medical field so interesting, it's like doing detective work alongside a bunch of team mates to help out the sick patients. Discovering new things here and there... man i cant wait to head off to college and start my nursing major

Now I understand why it always takes forever at the ER or Hospital. For the patient it is a lifetime. Mad respect for our Medical professionals!

7:05 i never considered that an X-ray machine would be brought to a patient's room but that does make more sense. its nice to see hospitals adapting, its definitely not something that happens nearly enough in the US

Glad to see you back Siobhan. If you were a European doctor then all this would be "heatstroke", "heatstroke" and you guessed it 50 million more cases of heatstroke. But you're not so its less predictable yay!
