Sadly problem with India is, neither, the historical buildings of gone by days, nor the memories of our great singers, writers are kept alive. I have never ever heard young generations talking about those great people. A nation who forgets their past suffers. India was & is great country but sadly they divide people on petty things rather than bringing them together. I have been living in UK since last 57, years & admire this nation how they preserve & honour people & buildings of gone by days. 🙏. Thank you. Watching this episode I was reduced to tears.😢.

I can not believe that I could learn so many new things about this great man from a single show. Why can somebody not make a Saigal Museum in his home town Jullundhar? I understand his ancestral house is still in tact. That could be converted into a memorial. There is a remarkable Elvis Memorial at Memphis, Elvis's home town. At the time of rehearsal of a Tegors song Ami Tomae Jawto, K L Saigal repeatedly sung Ami Amae instead of Ami Tomae. Naturally he was asked why you are doing so? Then the great singer replied, here Tomae means Ishshore and the very Ishshore lives into me also, so it is same in the consideration of intrinsic meaning of the word. Ultimately the debate went up to Tagore. Then Tagore himself supported K.L Saigal to sing the song the way the great singer understood. But KL Saigal did not change word while the recording to honor the great poet Sree Rabindranath Thakoor.
