Also, I was selected by Air India ( air India engineering service limited ) in bass maintenance department. As a apprentice our is to assist technician and I clear my NCVT 98%. Unfortunately apprentices do not become engineers unless they continue their studies at a university, they become aircraft fitters. I hear so many tradesmen say they are engineers when they are not. The time spent at university and the work load is mind boggling compared to an apprenticeship. I was a aircraft engine fitter back in the fifties and sixties, my son studied and became a mechanical engineer which to me was incredibly hard although I was able to help him for the first two years of his study but after that I was completely lost. Unfortunately the drop out rate at university was considerable due mostly to pressure I do believe. What happened to those that dropped out I often wonder. So I hope you can understand my objection to fitters being called engineers.

Not strictly true. Yes you can become an engineer by taking a university degree BUT you can also become an aircraft engineer, like me, by passing your aircraft engineer's licence which then give you certifying rights as an engineer.

Im sorry to correct you here, but a mechanical engineer, aeronautical engineer and maintenance engineers are all different credentials. This Job is actually Maintenance engineer, its is an engineer who is strictly for the purpose of maintenance. These are not mechanical engineers or even aeronautical engineers. The University degree will always be the highest level but it is however fit to call this Position Maintenance engineer. I have known many maintenance engineers who do not claim to be "Engineers"

Nope , I'm Aircraft Engineer and I maintain aircraft .THAT'S what my credential say on my CASA issued license . I can sign the aircraft off as airworthy ,not some Degreed engineer siting in an office pushing CAD around .

To whoever wants to become an airline engineer THINK TWICE I retired after 38 years working for one of the major airlines in America First off the pay is very low for the responsibility given and worst of all you will be in a Union that will not protect you from management who has no clue on how a airplane operates as they want you to just sign off everything and not care about safety I was in this business because there are not many jobs opportunities elsewhere as you work weekends holidays and grave shifts and worst of all everyone backstabs each other which management loves I am glad I am retired so if you can get into computer field or air conditioning I say that would be a better option

Study aerospace, mechanical or electrical engineering. In aerospace you can specialize in whatever you want after graduation while electrical or mechanical only allow you to specialize in their paths. I'm studyiny electrical engineering with the hope of getting to work on aircraft's electrical systems one day inshallah. You will encounter many hard obstacles in engineering studying but it's totally worth it. Good luck and I hope you achieve your dreams.

@@donald8354 Thank you🙏 Some universities offer avionics programmes while other don't and unfortunately my university doesn't so I will first study EE then get a masters degree in avionics or get an internship as an avionics engineer and the take some courses offered by Egypt Air.
