THANK YOU, AMY AND VLAD, FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR THIS GIFT! 🖤 I wish to hug you. You are such a wonderful human beings. And I cannot thank you enough. For everything! For this video, for beautiful words, for the support... and for being yourselves! THANK YOU! 🖤🖤🖤 I will not say anything about the song or the video, you got it all, basically, and I know that you will recieve lots of comments about it all. On the other hand, you are never superficial, so I knew you would get it. "Deutschland" is, in my opinion, Rammstein's best music video, although my favourite is "Zeit". And I am really glad that Vlad tricked us all and, in the end, made you watch it. Because, it is really not the full experience without it. Sending you much, much love! 🖤🖤🖤

I am so happy for you my friend that your favorite band became a key part of their 100K celebration weekend. You have been one of my favorite people and friends in the comments since practically the beginning of the channel. You were the one responsible for introducing me to Rammstein who I now also love. I have a playlist with dozens of their songs. I have mentioned to you before that Amy reads the comments, so I'm sure she saw the one in which you mentioned you would really like her to do Deutschland.

Thank you for this reaction! I've hoped you would react to this song of Rammstein. As a german I must say it speaks from my heart. The song describes perfectly how difficult it is, to love your home country when it has such a dark and evil history. The piano piece is in fact another song of Rammstein, it's called "Sonne", perhaps another song to listen to in a few times ;) Thanks again to you and the community!
@chrisrudolf983910 ай бұрын
Just to add some detail to what you said: The outro is not 1:1 the song Sonne, but it is close enough that you could think that if you don't compare the versions directly. This version also picks up musical motives from the main song, so they didn't just slap some random old material that fitted the tone onto the song to fill the outro, the outro is very deliberately composed for this song. Fans instantly regcognizing the song "Sonne" in it and remembering part of this song's lyrics contributes to the slightly hopeful feeling on which this piece ends.

I've seen most of the "Deutschland" reaction videos and I thought your comments at the end were extremely perceptive. I would phrase your choice on how to react to the movie by analogizing it to academic disciplines. Yours is what I would call the best "philosophical" analysis I have seen. Other reviewers (e.g. with a German background), may have the best "historical" reactions (e.g. the Oxford Professor). Still others may have the best sociological or psychological analysis. We can learn from all of these perspectives. But I really enjoyed yours. Seconding another commenter that I read here too, you are the first person I have seen reviewing this song that connected the concluding piano piece as reflecting a change of mood (to "sunny"), with the fact that it is in fact taken from the Rammstein song "Sonne" ("sun" in German). (P.S. -- Also, you could always react one day to one of their modern 2020-2023 LIVE shows showing their gigantic new stage! More of a "fun" reaction if you wanted a change of pace). 🥰

I wonder whether the Rammstein guys have already seen your video. I‘m 100% sure they will love your analysis &, of course, YOU! ❤ In addition, this is - also of course - a true masterpiece of art & depth. It‘s kind of strange & odd to say that we have no Bach,Beethoven, Händel,Mozart, Haydn, Brahms, Mahler or Wagner anymore, but we have had Rammstein now. But that‘s how it is…🤷♂️😅 And just to let you know, as a German: you don‘t even know (but how could you) how much Rammstein captured the German soul in this piece, including the end, the piano part. Very important, too. They got it all. And you got it all! Much LOVE to you & Vlad ❤❤❤ And thank you for this wonderful analysis! Oliver

She tries to explain it - he shapes the words in a classical way - but can't really explain it, because there are many classical singers she doesn't like. This is the first time she's reacting like all the other KZbinrs who have a reaction channel. She finally let's go of the teacher inside of her (just for a minute) and joins the average Rock listener! She may use terms like "overtones" and talk about "the way it resonates", but in fact she just feels like a fan girl who hears a voice that's sexy to her.

@ryandean316211 ай бұрын
This song actually contains multiple references, both musical and lyrical, to older songs of theirs. So, when you say that the piano part at the end could be a separate work, you're not wrong, as I'm pretty sure it's a piano version of their song Sonne (Sun) from 2001, and when you say that it's linked to the rest of it, you're not wrong either because the entire work is borrowing elements from past songs.

The 4 bars with the 5 highlight notes have another partern too. It's every 3rth note. So it sounds like 5 triols with in the last bar an extra note to fill the bar. So 5 x 1,2,3 and the last note.
@Bobbias10 ай бұрын
Yeah my eyes went to the groupings of 3 rather than to the fact that they had 5 "peaks". It's not quite a polyrhythm or a polymeter, but it is an interesting use of a different subdivision count to introduce a cool syncopated rhythm as an additional layer of sound.

I'll have to dive deeper ... maybe learn more German, on the side. Thanks!
@compuholic8210 ай бұрын
It is probably hard to really appreciate the lyrics as a non-German speaker and it is also impossible to properly translate. Rammstein is very good at playing with words. One example is them playing with words containing the prefix "über" to express both positive and negative connotations which perfectly fits the ambivalent history. For example: "übergeben" has a double meaning which can mean "to hand over" or "to vomid". Another double meaning is "überlegen": It can mean "to think about something" or "to be superior". "übernehmen" can mean both "to take over" or "to take on more than you can handle". The lyrics are littered with word plays like these. While their lyrics are often extremely dark, they are also strangely poetic.

This song is really a throwback to their second album Sehnsucht. The verses remind of the band's biggest hit Du Hast. The background female vocals remind very much of the song Sehnsucht.

I'm pretty sure that is on purpose.

I would like amy to listen to Sweet chil o mine. Slash didn't know much bout music, yet is one of the best solos in rock history. I would like to hear her opinions on that and axl's voice, range and energy. GNR has the third grossing tour in history, below tylor swift, and that shows how much people value that band.

Wow, I didn't even think about the synth part being a polyrhythm. I'm quite surprised and happy that you appreciate this music as well, although it's more “heavy”. I know you get recommendations a lot, but as someone who knows all Rammstein songs, I would recommend the song “Mutter”. It's one of the most melodic songs Rammstein has to offer and it's a ballad that was written around the same time as “Ohne Dich” which you have made a video about. It has a pretty unusual chord progression (at least for modern music I would say, I don't know that much about classical music), in the verse it's Em-C-D-B and in the chorus it gets even more interesting: Em-G-A-D-B (and there are more chords in the later part). Another one: if you like Till's voice, I would recommend “Frühling in Paris” which is pretty happy melodic song (unusual for Rammstein:)) with great, versatile singing from Till.

Contrary to bands like Scorpions, who always only sang in English, Rammstein has stayed in German, yet managed to reach beyond German-speaking countries - probably because of their vocal specialty: Every single word is pronounced very clear and letter-by-letter-correct, as only a teacher would do, so non-native speakers of German can easily get the lyrics. Ohne Dich is one of my favourite songs with its beautiful wording. I knew this song, but it is the first time I saw the video (or small "movie"). In the piano-part I visioned the large mountain-forests with lakes and castles of Harz-mountains and Bavaria. Germany has had its darkness but also much beauty. Many think of J.S.Bach, Goethe, Nietzsche etc. but did you know, that half the "Latin" alphabet was invented in Germany to make it possible to write other languages than Latin!

Scorpions sang in German for the 5 years of the band. 1965-1970.

No country with history is "innocent" but we are also not guilty of grandfathers crimes, This piece of music tells a story through it's growth and also it's changes. Excellent review
