*I think the Saturn is commonly mistaken for having tons of quality lightgun games whereas in reality, it is a much smaller amount! Thankfully though, Virtua Cop is a great game that could easily stand toe-to-toe with any other shooter from that time and come out on top!* Apologies for the ending as the current Top 10 was shown later on screen than I intended, not sure what happened!

Virtua Cop 1 and 2 and HOTD. All of these are better than the Time Crisis games IMO.

Agreed I got this cheap after a year it came out without the light gun > the lack of content did harm it in the long run but the graphics was really good along with the music (the ending theme was my favourite)

When I bought my SEGA Saturn, it came along with three games, Virtua Fighter 2, Daytona USA and Virtua Cop. Also came with the Saturn Bootleg demo disc. A fantastic bundle it was.

I remember that buundle of games! It was like a deal if you owned a saturn you could go into a store with a coupon and they would give you a small box with the games in it

Great review, the Virtua Cop games always edged out Time crisis for me, golden era of light gun games.

@retroblitz3533 Yeah I think I agree, although I'm yet to play Time Crisis from start to finish! 😅

The opposite for me. Time Crisis just had more to it! The cover mechanic was truly unique at the time and the game wasn't over in 15 minutes, leaving you feeling unfulfilled.

@SomeOrangeCat To be fair, Time Crisis is around a year and a half newer than VC I think!

@SomeOrangeCat I think the content point is tricky, and this applies to a lot of games at the time (and even today). The fact a game has more content doesn't automatically mean better! I would take a shorter gaming experience that is of a high enough quality that it can be replayed multiple times than a game that has more content, but once you've seen it, the game sits on the shelf collecting dust. With Virtua Cop, I replayed that game so many times back in the day it's untrue, for the simple reason the content that was there was super high quality. Not saying Time Crisis isn't quality, I enjoyed it, including the PS2 version, but it didn't get anywhere near the same play time. It's like saying a film that's 3 hours long is better than a film 2 hours long, which we all know it nonsense.

@@retroblitz3533 Take a look at House of the Dead Remake. It was well made! Very faithful to the original game...*too* faithful. Its over in less than a half hour, and there's nothing in the way of expanding that. Most reviewers agree that even at $30 that's too steep. So most people, myself included, waited until it went on sale for $10.

I remember playing a arcade game that’s like this and I enjoy it but it’s not this one it was another one and awesome video give you a like and full watch time keep it up

Loved it! I didn't love the headaches that the flashing would cause when you took a shot.
This was the best home version i reckon, the PS2 version was very good, but it was not as good as the Saturn version. I will do a play though video of the Saturn version in the next couple days to go with the PS2 play through i did last week.

Ironically, you'd see some developers as far back as the NES releasing their arcade-to-home ports with extra content, because the base game was too short to justify the price. So this wasn't some new concept that just magically appeared in the 32-bit era. Sega was just tone deaf.

@SomeOrangeCat it's a shame the Saturn arcade games didn't have more meat on the bones... When you look at games like Soul Blade on the PSone with the Edge Master mode, it's no wonder so many more people opted for a Playstation!

@@gameshack1985 Namco understood the assignment. One of Virtua Cop 2's contemporaries, Time Crisis, came home with the arcade mode as well as an all new scenario that was as long as arcade mode. You were getting twice the game. VC2 was once again, a bare bones arcade port with nothing added.
