Take a walk through a moody little bamboo forest. Unreal Engine 5.3.2.
Now with 16x the detail! Okay, maybe not exactly. It is 60fps now though. This was mostly to test using virtual cameras with an iPad for that hand-held look. Also trying out DLSS 3 for this one - all shots were rendered out at 4K using DLSS ‘Quality’ settings. Not too shabby honestly - it handles the fine detail much better than the default TSR - wayy less flickering too...
Using hardware Lumen for reflections and GI, Nanite for meshes. No path tracing was used.

If someone were to show me this completely randomly, without any context or prior knowledge of it being made in Unreal, I would legitimately think it's real. Rather ironic for the name of the engine, but super impressive.

This is amazing! Practically photorealistic. Everyone jokes about how that expression sounds silly after a few years but it becomes truer every time it's said. It's exciting that it's even possible to render stuff like this in real time.

Woah holy freaking Christ!! How did you do the camera motion? Feels like it was recorded with a real phone and then transferred to digital scene camera? Edit: Description says you did that with an iPad. Makes sense. I wonder if this kinda motion could be fully programmed so that mouse would behave that way automatically?
@lion_towers3d
@lion_towers3d Жыл бұрын
Yeah - iPad live link virtual camera to get the motion. Gotta say, it was pretty cool to be able to walk around a scene I built as if I were actually there!
@MyAmazingUsername
@MyAmazingUsername Жыл бұрын
@@lion_towers3d It looks really good. You're so damn good at building scenes. Next time, try walking the scene in VR and record that. It's even crazier. I was just thinking about how to emulate this with just a mouse after seeing your video... Handheld camera shake is basically like a dozen sine waves all acting in different directions, with different amplitudes, and different frequencies. So this could probably be programmed exactly like that. Have a bunch of sine waves which react to mouse movement speed, increasing the amplitude the faster the mouse moves. Mix together all the forces and calculate the camera motion vector for each frame. Smooth it all out and add a slight delay after moving the mouse so that the intent of the player ("move camera top left") is analyzed but is then mixed with the wobbly sine wave motion, and adding a few things such as overshoot and correcton, and then gradual calming of the camera when it's being held still, but always have a slight wobble. The sines should constantly be changing direction, by smoothly and slowly rotating the angle that they're aiming at. So that the wobble is always unpredictable. The mouse motion vector should always be the strongest, to ensure the camera actually follows the mouse. It would probably take like a week of tuning but in the end it could become a very cool game mechanic for a realistic game/virtual tour world.

The camera movements are really good, but when it rotates, especially when it rotates, the constant fast and straight movement is similar to the way bots in fps games move when we watch the view camera.

Imagine that in VR. What is real? How do you define "real"? Epic Games truly were onto something picking the name "Unreal" for their 1998 shooter. As a hobbyist 3D artist I just don't know what to say. Even Avatar 2 didn't impress me as much as this short video.
@ChillieGaming
@ChillieGaming Жыл бұрын
Because avatar 2 is a game and this is not A video game needs to run on 120+ fps or higher nowadays otherwise gamers will complain And this is just a demo which would barely run at 60 fps in most GPUs. So when GPU will start to get stronger then we will see games with these level of detail
