There are more sides to it. Over-exposure to the internet for young people = bad. And, the internet is not universally good for everyone, for some, it makes them hurt, feel how actually people are so far away, and all that bad stuff gathered together and sensionalized. The internet's main effect is *connection* , be it of goodness or of bad. In a place where everything gathers, darkness is part of it too.

This song is amazing. I have been suffering from depression ever since my only sibling and best friend passed away 3 and 2 years ago. The contrasts and crescendos fill up a part of my soul that has been empty for a while. This is the first comment I have ever written on KZbin, and I just want to give my sincere and heartfelt thanks to Eric Whitacre for the beauty he brings to the world. I had the privilege of singing Water Night with my high school choir, and I will never forget how it made me feel so alive. Thank you so much, Mr. Whitacre.

Man, I wish I had access to this many singers. Seriously, half of what makes this sound so awesome is the sheer mass numbers of singers. Every tiny influction of every singer just adds this chilling effect. It doesn't matter if you are perfectly in tune. Heck, it's what makes orchestras have such a great sound when you have more strings. All it takes is 8000 singers and you have one of the most magical sounds that we could produce. Now imagine this live... *dies a little bit*

Wow, it has been some time since I have listened to this. Thanks to all who have taken time to be so kind and jot down your positive comments. I discovered Eric Whitacre while just casually surfing the Internet for new songs for my voice students, right after his first Virtual Choir piece. The word was out and videos for a new piece called “Sleep” were being accepted. Who knew these would be so powerfully amazing. After participating in a few of these and introducing students and recording their videos for submission, I submitted an audition to sing in a production of Mr. WHITACRE’S at Carnegie Hall in the spring of 2013 and was accepted. “Fly to Paradise” videos were to be submitted that year and I auditioned for one of the short solos and much to my surprise was chosen to to sing those two words, “just fly” and at 3:26 I felt like I could have flown. It meant so much as I had met so many in New York that I had sung virtually with in previous productions. During the COVID Lockdown, we all came together, separately once again and did “Sing Gently,” the largest VC yet. Music has such a remarkable ability to accomplishment much in a person’s life. If you have the opportunity to participate in one of these productions, do it, everyone’s video is accepted and you will be forever glad you did it.🎶

If you want a hint what a choir of the heavenly host would sound like, this is a hint ... imagine the voices that have passed before us returning in song ... a touch of divinity, Eric, truly ... thank you so much for this and all your works here ... ONE PEACE at a time !

This is definitely something that's inspired me to try something far more ambitious -- a choir of 10000 in all varieties of voices ... single-handedly. I've not yet gone over 60 but did so at a rate that would have allowed around 500 in a day.

this song is so good, the tomball highschool band had this in their ballad in 2017 and ever sense has been our homecoming piece.

Ours used it 2022 for their ballad as well. Cuero high school, as a choir/band kid, hearing this was amazing.

+Anon FiveThousand That's a good question! Just got out of the habit, I guess. What I probably need is a good voice teacher.

Even after watching the TED talk and the previous three videos, I've never been so emotionally moved by a piece of music or video. I was sobbing while listening to this. Eric and company, THANK YOU for such an amazing experience. Hoping to be a part of the next one.

We're playing an arranged version of Fly to Paradise, Lux Aurumque and some other songs with a front choir for my marching band show and it sounds freaking epic. The theme of the show is called Enlightened. It was originally going to be called Lux.

***** Probably I bet a lot of band members are listening to this.

My brothers marching band did a show with this song too, thought it was a few years ago and called "The Other Side". I think this song is perfect for any marching show to be honest though.

Every single time I watch and listen to this video I can't help but get choked up and shed a few tears knowing and seeing all the people in the skyscraper windows who sang together. This is what I believe all those millions/billions in heaven will sound like singing at God's throne! If this doesn't move you to believing in Him then you need to get down on your knees and pray to be permitted to hear such a wonderous choir after you die. Fly to Paradise it the perfect title for it!

I still can't believe I was a part of this amazing project. The song moves me to tears everytime. And I'm lucky because my face is visible, so I was able to share it with my friends and family and say: Look it's true, I'm right there with the gigantic headphones!!!
