After the dog got to Nashville, he realized he forgot his guitar. He missed the recording session for new release of, "The Doggie in the Window". He was perty doggone flustered after the band said he was barking up the wrong tree. "Life is ruff" he said to himself as he figured he was in the doghouse with the ol' Lassie. This might be a silly question but how do freight locomotives from different companies based on different sides of the country wind up pulling freight together? I always thought UP and BNSF were out west while CSX and NS were here on the east coast.
@michaelgaskin4892 жыл бұрын
The locomotives are all the same underneath the paint. So when a train originates on one railroad and terminates on another (for example, a long-distance intermodal train, coal train, grain train...) it is more efficient for the receiving railroad to just keep the locomotives it came with and put their own crew aboard. They will return the foreign locomotives when it's convenient. Railroads keep track of the number of "horsepower hours" their locomotives spend pulling for other railroads and pay each other back either by lending their own locomotives for an equivalent number of hours, or by cash.
