They're a snotty, arrogant culture who treats any beings which possess less advanced technology than theirs as inferior and backwards. They treated the Doctor like crap before he started singing in their presence, and their only interest in music stems from its mathematical components, with no appreciation of the artful expression, the strong emotion, and the rich history behind the songs the Doctor sang. They are the very definition of 'xeno scum'.
@xlDeathlxJosey3 жыл бұрын
@@toreadum8ass it wasn't just the mathematics of music that interested them because when others sang they didn't care. It was more about a hologram which is made of complex mathematics singing. It was really the doctors programming and ability to sing that amazed them the most because it is a technological wonder that they had never seen.

Under the eaves of the old tower, as the almond tree blossoms, a friendly swallow has returned. Every year she returns, always in the same day. She crosses mountains and sea to get back here. Only love flees and does not return. It makes you hope in vain, but it does not return. If I were to name my two favorite actors from Voyager, one of them would have to be Picardo. What a solid performance in almost every episode. He's probably one of the great Trek characters too. With Spock, Data, Quark, Odo, and many others.

I do feel I know music though, and I enjoy listening to him sing operatic pieces immensely. I wish he would record an Operatic CD. I'd be first in line to buy it.

@jacksawild Yes- Rondine al Nido by Vincenzo de Crescenzo. It's a beautiful piece of early 20th century music. Pavarotti used it as part of his standard repertoire for a while. I think it's one of the related videos. We talked about it in my Vocal Literature class and I almost died when I realized I had heard it on Voyager, it was a good day :-).

This song has only ever been performed by six people; Luciano Pavarotti being the most famous. However, Robert Picardo is one of the six. If you watch Grease, John Travolta does not sound at all like himself while singing Grease Lightning. Likewise, people adopt very different colors and timbres while singing, especially art song. Robert Picardo studied music for years and in most of The Doctor's songs he does not really perform- he just sings; this is him at his best but it is, in fact, him.
