A very fun film with some great wrestling as well as a speech that has stuck with me even after watching this a few weeks ago now! Some things I would have changed with the film but besides that, I had a great time!!! Thanks for watching! Have a great day! :)

Also Oliver is Canadian based, Madonna is even bigger in Canada, she had 25 #1 songs , more than any artist in history in Canada, more than the Beatles, more than Michael Jackson etc. Her first #1 was in 1984 her last #1 song was in 2012, she had 10 #1's in the 80s, 7 in the 90s, 7 in the 2000s and 1 in the 2010s. She's the most successful artist of all time in Canada
@samuelosler19942 жыл бұрын
She has 11 #1 albums in Canada, her first in 1986, he most recent in 2015. She had 2 #1 albums in the 80s, 2 #1 albums in the 90s, a whopping 5 #1 albums in the 2000s (basically everything she released) and 2 in the 2010s

Always liked this movie, and haven't seen it in a looooong time. Matthew Modine is in a great thriller called "Pacific Heights" along with Melanie Griffith (whose mom is Tippi Hedron of "The Birds") and Michael Keaton. I'm sure you'll really enjoy it. Enjoyed your reaction!

"Why are they starting down and not standing up?" When you get a takedown(awarded 2 points) you continue from that position until you escape(get to your feet which awards youn1 point) or the period ends(theres 3 periods). While down you can gain points exposing your oponants back to the mat(2 points for 3 seconds, 3 points for 5 seconds) or a pin which ends the match and your team is awarded 6 points. 3 points for a regular win on points, 4 points for a major victory by winning by 8 points and a technical fall you get 5 points if you rack up a 15 point lead and the match is ended. You start the match both up and a coin toss determines if you start the 2nd or 3rd period in the down position.

I played football and wrestled through high school and college so when this movie came out, my sophomore high school year, it was a real boost to the team. Within a few weeks attendance was up almost double. It didn't help all the teasing I got from wearing a singlet but that's between my therapist and I. ;-)

Coming of age sports movies are this is one of the best along with Karate Kid and Breaking Away. The actor who played Kuch was a popular teen actor in the 80s but completely quit the industry in 1991. Nobody knows why but now makes furniture in PA.

This movie is a must see for wrestlers in high school. I watched an interview with the guy who played Shute. He was 215 pounds and was told to lose as much weight as he could before the filming started.

THe actor who played Shute said he was 215 lbs when they cast him and he had to cut over 30lbs so he would be closer to Matthew Modine's weight and if he couldn't cut the weight he was going to be recast. He obviously cut the weight. Great movie and review

Wrestling is a martial art, at its best it is all you need. MMA is Mixed Martial Arts but badass wrestlers that add BJJ move along rapidly. Wrestling is huge at Penn State, Iowa, like big time 16,000 lasers, smoke, lights. That isn't the norm. Wrestling is fight club and if you grow up in it you're forever loyal to it. My nephew is a Jr, Wrestling his ass off. He has to wrestle off a Senior for his spot he's held all season. Luke is his teammate from Football and Wrestling that suffered a pinched nerve in the Football playoffs. Wrestling is different, in every other sport (I think I'm right) the coach decides who plays, starts, competes but in wrestling you hv the ability to say "I challenge you, Wrestle off" 2× victory to win the spot. You have to take it, but you have the ability on your own to control your own destiny unlike any other sport, win twice, you're the one. Nearly said "you're the man but that's disrespectful to the many female wrestlers competing in Indiana and around the country against the boys. Look at all the Indiana females on the USA Wrestling Team and their success. Some were beat nearly every match Wrestling the boys but when they hit the women's tournament, they destroyed. Wrestlers work so hard, always look at the person's ears 👂 if you're about to get in a fight. If the ears are are cauliflowered just go home, gonna be a bad night. That's a pro tip for young drinkers out there.

Back when this movie was on HBO, my dad always recorded movies from the channel. Usually, if you used the slow play option you could get 3 movies on a VHS. The VHS tape, had another movie on it called Youngblood a hockey movie with Rob Lowe and Patrick Swayze. These two movies pair together really well.

Other good films with Matthew Modine in the leading role include the following: And the Band Played On (1993): docudrama about the beginnings of the AIDS outbreak Pacific Heights (1990): a couple rents out part of their home and ends up with a terrifying tenant

Yes, high school and college wrestling is very big...I think more so in certain areas and states. Now a lot of people come down hard on college football for the money it generates but it's that money which allows colleges to offer many other sports that don't make television such as wrestling

Is wrestling big? Well that depends where you are. In Iowa and Oklahoma it's definitely big. Not football or basketball big but really popular. Sell out thier college and high-school arenas. In Pennsylvania it's pretty popular especially western PA. NJ and Ohio it's pretty popular as well. The rest of the country not so much but there are certain high-school & universities that have a strong tradition where it's popular there but not so much everywhere else.
