What happened with this project??? It’s been awesome watching your phenomenal work on it thus far.

It was good that you were man enough to admit a mistake and show how you rectified it, rather than do a hidden rectification and continue as though nothing had happened. Compliments.

Thank you. Honesty is always the best policy, and if others can learn from my mistakes it makes the world a better place (ish!) :)

I will be getting a Midget in April once the winter is done. I suspect it will need some work as they all do. My brother found and suggested this site. It has been very informative - I probably learned more from the mistakes than the work that went without a hitch. So, I appreciate the mistakes and the fact that you post them - particularly how you hurt yourself. I hope my machine needs less work and looks half as good.

Hi Kelly, thanks for your comments and for watching! I'm glad you find the videos useful and appreciate the transparency I try to achieve - so often videos only show the finished product and not the journey!

Hi mate, thanks for another informative vid, I`ve followed you for quite a while now. By the way, how many amps are you using to weld such thin sheet metal? Thanks, Paul.

In some of the really tight (later hidden) spaces, do you use seam dealer, or is the seam welding protection enough against the ingress of water?
@VisionAutoGarage5 жыл бұрын
Seam sealer will be used at almost every exposed seam and join.

Hi. It's been close to a year since this video. What's the status of this restoration?

Third comment: the midgets always had a kind of ledge at the bottom of the B pillar where crap and water collected and ultimately the ensuing rust rotted that corner away. Why not reshape that corner to avoid a moisture / water trap and future rot?
@VisionAutoGarage5 жыл бұрын
The larges access to water on the b-pillar is the joint to the sill, this is usual spot welded from the inside so there's a visible panel gap on the outside. I've already seam welded this, more for the aesthetics, but it will also prevent water ingress, from the outside at least. Visually, it wont be original, but this is a resto-mod. I should really stop calling it a restoration!

Does the boot floor panel weld to the wing in anyway ? I need to do this repair on mine and was thinking of plug welding them from the inside then seem seal. It might stop debris getting trapped.
@VisionAutoGarage4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, the boot fool welds to a corner filler panel which in turn welds to the lower rear quarter of the wing.
@chrisc64 жыл бұрын
Vision Auto Garage thanks for the reply. I have just welded In the boot corner as you have. There wasn't anything left of the lower wing as it was all filler. Presuming you plug welded the wing repair to the boot floor corner from underneath then ?

I'd post a photo but I can't seem to make it go. I am on the Midget enthusiast facebook group and there is a picture of my orange car there.

So, I’ve watched episode 21 of 21 but the series ended four years ago. Where’s the rest? What happened? How did the car end up? Pretty cheesed off if it all ended here, without resolution!

Sorry to disappoint! I'm pretty cheesed off i couldn't keep a small business afloat. The project was sold along with several others when it folded.
@alastairwatson3201 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. It looked like you did quality work, so it’s a pity your business folded. You videos were good, too.

No weld through primer !!! And nothing inside the cavity before you fitted the quarter repair panel. I just dont understand why people weld in new panels , with two bare metal faces, without weld through primer, its going to rust end of...
@VisionAutoGarage5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, you got me on that repair! I changed brand of zinc rich primer and it welded terribly. I use it everywhere, except this one repair. Sods law. However, seamsealer, 2k primer, lizard skin and top coat will be plenty to prevent rust. It's only going to be an issue if water gets in the seam, which it wont.
@GarageTimeAutoResto5 жыл бұрын
Not sure if available in your area, but I use Like 90 weld thru primer. its the best in my experience!
