The Craziest Flymaniacs episode ever?! Niklaus Bauer and Paolo Pacchiarini experienced an unreal week-long adventure exploring the fly fishing for big halibut at Camp Halibut in Sørøya Northern Norway. Prior to this week, even the camp Halibut's seasoned hosts, who are truly experienced in halibut fishing, doubted the effectiveness of using a fly for halibut. However, as you'll see from this video, the power of fly fishing proved to be astonishing. We won't spoil any more here; enjoy this epic almost one-hour journey to the shores of Northern Norway, to the realm of huge halibut.

Incredible. This is so cool. I have read that there is a place in Greenland where they do cod and halibut fishing on fly, but I have never seen it captured on video. Fantastic.

That is...absolutely crazy. Of all the fish I have thought of trying to catch on fly tackle, halibut never even registered. I'm not sure if we have halibut grounds shallow enough here in Oregon, but I suddenly want to look into it! Though my 8/9wt salmon/steelhead rod I usually fish the salt with suddenly seems...light. 😂 Oh darn, I might find an excuse to buy more toys. Bummer.

ive got a really stupid musky fly that i bet would be great for this. its just about 30cm long, its tied on a swimbait style hook, so i can drag it over anything and not snag, and it has a custom shank in the front with a 14 gram egg sinker. its all super dense bucktail so despite being really big and heavy its also really wind resistant so it actually isn't as bad to cast as it sounds.

Thanks for taking me to where I probably will never be able to go. However I have been to a small Island north of Bodo Norway on my cousin, Per Kristian Lund’s wooden Viking ship. I did get to fish Urskar for brown trout with a fly rod … a real thrill. Super video. I can’t wait to see the next episode!
