That is awesome to hear! Glad you liked it. I really love the town and it is just German tourists there. Did you get to Wernigerode too? It is another cute town right by Quedlinburg. I have/had videos on both towns but my computers got zapped and they never got published. Super happy for you! Thanks for watching, commenting and letting me know about your trip! All the best!

I lived in Germany for 3 years, I had German in college, I dated a German girl for a few years (who i actually never spoke German to as she said I sounded like a jerk when I spoke German so I just spoke with her friends in German instead), and then I did my masters in Germany and just really loved the language. Good fun to learn.

Another thing to see in Frankfurt is the Kaisersaal in the Roemer. It is essentially a rogues gallery of the emperors and king of the Holy Roman Empire with pictures of all the monarchs from Charlemagne to Franz II (1792-1806). In 1806 the Holy Roman Empire was dissolved by Napolean. On my first trip to Frankfurt a visit to the Kaisersaal got me interested in German history. For all you book fans don't forget the Book Fair(Buchmesse) in October. Some day trips you can make from Frankfurt are to Mainz and Gelnhausen. Mainz has a romanesque cathedral. In Gelnhausen are the ruins of the castle built by the Hohenstaufen Kaiser Friedrich Barbarossa(Red Beard) reigned from 1152-1190.

I hope so :) We got a nice Sony NEX7 or something like that. The onlly problem was I could not use it in all locations as it was a bit of a draw for the unsavory elements of traveling so we ended up making over half of the videos with the old camera because i didnt' want the new one to get stolen. But i am glad you can notice the difference! And I am still waiting for the mic i ordered with it (that was in may). Thanks again for still watching and commenting! All the best!

Just two small side notes from a local: 1.) The houses behind you (not the cathedral, but the row of houses) is WAY younger than one might think. These houses were built in the '80s... _19_80s that is. Really. ;-) 2.) The area between these houses and the cathedral is currently being transformed into a replica of what used to be there before WW2. So there will be more small old-ish houses very soon.

A sightseeing tip from a Frankfurt-resident: check out the old part of Hoechst. Here you have of course fancy old houses, old city wall and a church from around 835! You can also have nice food at the place. The Bolongaropalast, nice walkways between river Main and the oldtown. And no japanese / chinese touristgroups!

"Heidi" stayed with Clara in Frankfurt....I think it was the Frankfurter Dom (cathedral) spire she went up to try to see the Alps ;)

Debbie Cooper - it was the Eschenheimer Tor, not the Dom (otherwise it would have been unorthodox ;)

Great video! Thank you! As a "Frankfurter" let me add a little footnote, please. Frankfurt has almost 700.000 inhabitants at present. Most of us think it's big enough to offer all cultural institutions etc., but in half an hour you can travel by bike from one side to the other in order to get some fresh air in the surrounding forrests... Just great! Furthermore I wonder why you do not mention/ show the facade of the Römer behind your camera... Was it covered because of restauration work being undertaken? As a visitor please enter the cathedral: most German emperors of the Holy Roman Empire were elected here ("Barbarossa" was the first in the year 1147) and later also crowned there (from 1562 onwards till the decline of the First Empire in 1806 )...Go up the Cathedral tower (costs 3 EUR/ 1,50 EUR (reduction). Splendid view! A last thing: Is it really necessary to explain who Goethe was? Funny... As if I had to explain to Germans who Shakespeare, Faulkner or Hemmingway was... funny indeed... Anyway, me again talking to much... Welcome back to Frankfurt anytime & carry on with the great work! :)

@MrLeFigaro odds are he was speaking to large American audience and I am pretty sure an explanation was needed. As a product of the American education system, I assure you an explanation was necessary.

Perhaps a few more shots of places mentioned. From all I've read, Frankfurt's just an airport stop on the way to any number of amazing places to visit in Germany.
@MyFakeIronTrees12 жыл бұрын
I didn't visit Wernigerode, but I did visit Hamburg, Berlin and Kassel on this trip. I thought Quedlinburg was a nice change after visiting the larger cities. I've seen quite a few cities in Germany but I still hope to visit Bamberg, Dresden, Regensburg and Görlitz. By the way, is there any reason for why you don't film cities in Belgium? I'm from Canada but I've been living in Belgium for two years now and I think there are a few incredible places.
