Hi! Houston born and raised, and love good Tex-Mex! Just wanted tosuggest a few worthy restaurants for when you are in town. Ninfa's (original) is awesome. Also, Papoasitos is another Houston food treasure that has been around forever. Another fun one is Chuy's. The atmosphere is fun and funky. Mr Houston? General Sam Houston beat Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto just outside town. He became President of the Republuc of Texas, then Senator and later Governor of the State of Texas. (He had been Governor of Tennessee when young.) As Governor he preached against Secession and was kicked out of office when Texas joined the CSA. Still a hero... Looks like the City Pass covers many of our museums and amusements HEB is a grocery chain beloved by Texans. Central Market is HEB's response to Whole Foods. Definitely a great place to bring visitors!

@@GrowingUpWithoutBorders Many years ago I read that Russian president Boris Yeltsin was in Houston once. While he had some free time time, he entered a small neighborhood grocery store and was surprised to see all the shelves full. it was then that he realized that a market economy works better than communism. So when he got back to Russia he started the process of privatization of the economy. I wonder what he would have thought if he went to that large supermarket.
