I spent a month in Peru and personally, felt very safe the whole time I was there. Of course, still keep an eye on your belongings to be safe. The people of Peru are very friendly to those who don’t speak Spanish, as Wolter said. If you do attempt to speak Spanish, even if you do so poorly, the locals love it!

They really are friendly with foreigners. But trust me between themselves try to discriminate each other. Besides, they( Peruvians) make an effort for those foreigners get a great impression from the city they are. Also, they feel inferior to the white people because they believe they are rich

I do find Peru to be pretty safe, especially outside Lima. The most common way you will get "robbed" is by being charged more for a taxi for being a foreigner and not knowing the typical price. But even so the taxi is a lot cheaper than Switzerland where I paid 50 francs for a 10 minute ride...

AND ALSO DO NOT TIP HERE!!! It's not a custom, we do not tend to do it... Some places do because they have learned that you feel guilty if not, but let me tell you it is ok with most people not to! But, since you are a tourist and we know you are full of money (if not why are you here) that's when we try to take advantange of your ignorance of the customs here and your well manners.... I'm sorry for these buddies around here. Guess that only the losers fall, let's stay informed so nobody has to get scammed again.

I never had a problem in peru with language. My hotel in cuzco spoke english very well, my hotel in aguas calientes spoke english, so did the restaraunt, inca train, and my hotel in lima spoke good english (although he did look very european). However I did use a private guide in lima (very cheap and please tip) who showed me around the food markets/museums which allowed me to buy certain fruits, food, and souvenirs without being ripped off.

Suggest that any American traveling to Peru stay in a hotel that has a front desk and English speaking staff. Do not book any side trips from the US (Expedia) other than the train and the enterance pass to Machu Pichu. When you are in Cusco, stay in San Blas neighborhood.

Maybe Peru should demand Spain to pay for it's destruction on Peru's treasures for to return all the gold and silver they stole from the Incas . Just returned from Peru. I like Cusco and the area of the Sacred Valley. Not impressed with Lima and dissappointed by Arrequipa, except for its main square. I felt safe walking at night, especially when seeing all types of police. Did come across several protest marches dealing with the mines in Peru. If tourism is important for Peru, then please fix the roads.

We were in Peru 14 years ago and watching this really made me want to return. We used the "luxury" coach from Cusco to Puno and that was fine. We also flew in the small planes over the Nasca lines, I was fine, but my other half (who was in a different plane) was not so well. We had so many wonderful experiences in our short time there (14 nights), I would love to revisit, but there are so many other places we have not visited it might be a while.

Another very imortant fact is that you must have an exit ticket before you're allowed to come/enter Peru. I had purchased a one way ticket (as usual) to Cusco, as I wasn't quite certain how long I'd stay or where in Peru I'd go. When I showed up at the aiport I was denied boarding of the plane because I had no return ticket. I was then forced to purchase a ticket in a hurried way which is quite expensive when it's totally last minute. Also Peru will only let you stay maximum 60 days.

Wolters, from a 1 to 10 you get a 9, describing Peru you covered a lot in a concise and precise manner. If I may there is a point that your readers should be informed while December to February is the rainy season in Cuzco, it is the Summer months at the coast (Lima), that explains the 3 Regions Peru has , Coast (desert) Mountains and Jungle. Peru is very fortunate, is you live in Lima in the winter you only have to drive 20 Kms. inland to find summer weather.

Hey, just small tip. Even though Peru is nowhere near as big as the US, Brazil or any country you think of when you are told "big", it's far more diverse in terms of climate than most countries with the same or bigger landmass. How does this matter to you? Well, that means that the weather can be drastically different depending on the region you decide to visit, so it's better if you check the weather forecast not just for Peru, but for the specific region you plan to visit, even if it's located right next to the one you just went in before.

I wouldn't recommend driving in lima because we are really (really!) aggressive, and driving inside the other cities is not really worth it, there is a lot of public transportation or taxi, you can always use uber, taxi beat, etc ... and don't drive between cities cuz it's dangerous (you can get robbed or even worse crash, it's really common here)

As somebody who is half Peruvian and has been there four times, this video is very accurate and helpful. However, I can honestly say that English has been becoming more and more prevalent for years now, especially in the younger generations. Of course, you should try and learn as much Spanish as you can before you go, because not everybody is going to be able to speak it, mostly the older folk. But many teenagers and young adults (mainly those under the age of 30) would be able to converse in English to a degree, depending the subject and which part of Peru you are in. But nevertheless, don’t let the language barrier stop you from going. Peru 🇵🇪 is a beautiful country with very friendly people, amazing culture(s) and the BEST food in the world… ¡Disfrútalo! 🙏🏼

Very interesting to see a video of you in South America! Looking forward to more videos like this! Do you have any plans to visit SE Asia? For example Philippines?

You were just in Russia a few days ago, where I'm from. Hope you had a great time there! Hey, this question may have already been answered, but can you do a video on your lifestyle design? How you are able to bring yourself and the family around the world, how you run your business while traveling, etc.
