Went there in 2006 with my 5 and 11 year old girls when I was 26. No gps - just a paper map that was in our bnb. We went for the bio bay and were pleasantly surprised by the festival of vendors, music and food! Such an amazing experience that I will never forget. Leaving on Sunday with my husband and our two little ones for Christmas in PR. We are absolutely planning a visit to La Parguera. Thank you for the video!

Great slice of life. A true taste of island life that you won't get on a resort. I did a similar boat tour in Jamaica but they let you get in the water. I didn't do it but I could see the water light up. It wasn't what I expected and I wouldn't do it again.

Very true! And wow... that sucks about the boat tour...

@@TravelWithSilent Yeah, glad I chicken out. It was pitch black out in some lagoon and I wasn't getting in that water. The people that did it said they were itchy afterwards. Then they had to rush to change out of wet swim suits to get back on the van. Definitely better excursions out there but cool science experiment.

In order to get the full effect of the bioluminescent bay you have to go in a moonless or cloudy night.
@AlmaLibreStudios2 жыл бұрын
The organism that creates the bioluminescence has been slowly dying over the years because of pollution and also because of so many visitors and boats. Also, there have been more lights added to the town and they affect the visuals. 40 years ago when I used to go as a kid it was an unbelievable sight. Everything around you was glowing and sparkling. It is a shame that it isn't the same anymore. Great video by the way!

Cool video. The problem with the Parguera is that you can't go to see the lagoon with a full moon. The smaller the moon, the better.

Nice vid bro. How much did you pay for the Bioluminescent tour? Did you buy in advance or buy it right there on the spot? TIA.
@TravelWithSilent3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It was only $10 and I purchased it right on the spot!

Wow I can't believe you only paid $10. Everywhere I have looked online is $40-60 a person and they sell out days in advance. Did you get a resident discount?

Wow that's alot! And no I didn't get any discount. I just randomly decided to ride it in the moment lol

Dude... Different conditions. The full moonlight and the Star doesn't help. You have to go under specific conditions

Exactly, the darker it is the better. I went once and that thing was full blown glow. It was incredible. It's like anything that glows in the dark. If you have light, it will not glow.

Do not go to a place Puerto Rico Shell craft/ Violeta 's Kitchen .The owner is a super rude lady who harrases clients to buy things before using the bathroom. I understand it's her restaurant but she is beyond rude and arrogant .There are better and cleaner places there than hers .Avoid it at all costs !

Sorry guy, but that is NOT the real PR. The real PR was what they replaced these American wannabe outdoor food courts with. I visited the original La Parguera various times 20-30 years go, when all kiosks were different looking. Each had its own rustic charm, made with wood, bamboo, tin ceilings, all very charming and unique. These is embarrassing. All that made La Parguera special is gone. The worst is that they think this is an improvement. Well, it is not. I have a trip to PR very soon and after watching this video, I am contemplating skipping La Parguera hoping that I find something more unique and authentic somewhere else in PR. FYI, I am PRican born and raised, and I have lived abroad for almost 30 years. I know the old PR, the real PR. I am that old.
