From Kansas City, Missouri area and my dad's ancestors were some of the first to settle in the area. The original early 1800 homestead is still in our family!!!

That is awesome. Where did your dad's ancestors come from?

How exciting to find family and the old homestead. We looked for Joes and were never were able to locate either. Filippo thinks he knows what street his family lived on. We walked it and the feeling was so breathtaking. To walk on the actual land and see the home must have been over the moon incredible!

Yeah, so I also discovered that the Sanfratello side of my family may not have been as poor as I originally thought. no only did they own that farm, but also a significant house in Caccamo. The things you learn!

Oh my goodness! I made an appearance at 4:51! As I recall, Andrew was not feeling well and stayed back at the hotel that day. So exciting that you get to do this.

Can you believe that was 27 years ago. And yes, you were their when we visited my cousin for the first time. Do you recall if we visited the farm?
@justjessygirlАй бұрын
@@kristenandscott I believe it was almost 24 years ago. I barely remember visiting them so I am not sure if we went to the farm. Maybe Kyera would remember. It’s funny that Scott is holding their dog for the picture, haha. I loved hearing how you just started calling people in the phone book, I sort of remember that. It takes a lot of guts to do that with limited language.

Kristen! You and Scott could restore that beautiful old farmhouse! I see a whole new KZbin series in your future!

You know, once you convert one historic farm into a bed and breakfast, how hard can it be to do another, right???😁

@@kristenandscott Ironically (or not so much probably) Sicily! All 4 of my great grandparents on my dad’s side came from Southern Italy & Sicily. But the line that is the easiest to claim my dual citizenship is from Sicily. I’m finally at the time of my life where I can take the time and hopefully accomplish this dream💕 (Milazzo & Messina to be exact)

È fortunato che la fattoria sia ancora lì! Quella di mia nonna è stata distrutta da un terremoto negli anni '80.
@kristenandscottАй бұрын
I don't know if I should have given this a thumbs up. Its sad that your grandmother's farm was destroyed. How long had you family owned it? Where was it located?
@voiceyourresilience209Ай бұрын
@kristenandscott my maternal grandmother grew up on the family farm in Ruvo del Monte, Basilicata. The farm was there since the early 1800s. Ruvo had a major earthquake in the mid 1980s and the farm house had to be torn down :( I am glad I at least had the opportunity to see the land and visit my Nonna's other two homes in town.

@kristenandscottАй бұрын
@@denasutera that is a great question. I'm speaking the language that is in the town of Caccamo hard to know how much Sicilian is mixed in there.
