I think it’s important to recognize that this documentary offers a raw glimpse into the realities of life for some young people in Bedford-Stuyvesant. While it may be easy to dismiss them with harsh judgments, we should remember that everyone’s circumstances are shaped by larger social, economic, and historical forces. Instead of criticizing, maybe we can try to understand the struggles and challenges they face. The history of the neighborhood and the systemic issues these youth have inherited play a huge role in shaping their decisions and lives. By showing both the current struggles and the rich history of the area, the documentary reminds us that there’s more to their story-one of resilience, survival, and community. Rather than tearing down individuals, let’s focus on solutions, support, and empathy. Every person in this video has potential, and the conversation should be about how we can all contribute to creating opportunities for positive change.

i live over in crown heights right on the border of bed-stuy, it's honestly a really nice area. you get groups of people gathering to drink and party outside or whatever but it's not unsafe or anything. if youre not involved in gang culture you can walk around freely. and again its actually pretty nice

Bed-Stuy is not really the hood anymore. You either gotta be rich or poor to live there - no middle class anymore. In 2000, avg home price was $200K; in 2023 avg is $1.5M. Except for the projects and a few blocks (Gates Ave, etc), Bed-Stuy is completely gentrified. The demographics have changed substantially as well…In 2000, it was 90% Black, 8% Hispanic & 2% White and Asian. In 2023, it’s 45% Black, 32% White, 20% Hispanic and 3% Asian.

Every single one of these videos has people saying "you don't know how hard they got it." If these vids are any indication, shit doesn't look too hard. Time too start taking some responsibility for your actions my dudes. People are over that excuse.

Certain parts of Bed stuy have been facing gentrification since in been back in high school 2010 it really got turned up since. Smh nothing to be glorified especially seeing people you grew up with not even around anymore. Make no mistake it's not the same, everything have change. I grew up at the border of East New York, Brownsville, Bushwick and I went to high school in the Stuy. It's nothing like the Stuy it made me actually felt like I was apart of the community. Everything clicked !!!
