Today, I take another nostalic and historic memory lane road trip to the cemetery. In this episode, I visit the famous gravesites of Nathaniel Taylor, who played Rollo, and Raymond Allen, who played Uncle Woody on the popular 1970s sitcom SANFORD & SON. Both are laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
Three other famous African American Veterans are also buried in this cemetery and I visit their gravesites as well.
My grave site tours today, at Riverside National Cemetery include:
Nathaniel Taylor, actor (Rollo Lawson)
Raymond Allen, actor (Woodrow "Woody" Anderson or Uncle Woody)
Will J "Dub" Jones, singer (The Coasters, The Cadets, The Cascades, The Charades)
Ed Townsend, singer and songwriter, producer (For Your Love and Let's Get It On)
William F "Bill" Walker, actor (To Kill A Mockingbird)
Peggy Walker, Actress (Our Gang)
Thanks for joining me on my travels on yet another trip to the past, down memory lane.

You did it again Steve ! You continue to hit on all cylinders. I was lucky enough to be on Nathaniel's 60th birthday party guest list. His niece and I are coworkers here in LA. Also, funny you should mention Marvin Gaye as he and I were neighbors up until his death. Look up the Western Heights Area. There's a lot of entertainment History here. Movies such as ' The Neighbors , Higher Learning, Kiss The Girls, House Bunny, and TV shows In Living Color and Six Feet Under just to name a few were filmed here. I can't wait to share this with Nathaniel's niece. Thank you for recognizing him and the others.

That is awesome Howard! And thanks so much for the heads up about the neighborhood. I did visit the 6 feet Under house and did a video about it about a year ago. I’ve been wanting to go back to the west ADAMS area to explore more. I love those old historic homes. I didn’t know that other shows were filmed there though. Thanks again for the heads up Howard 😊👍

The character Rollo was always a sharp dresser. I especially admired his leather caps. I liked the camera perspective on the grass with you walking toward/away. Sort of a cemetery visit from the perspective of the deceased being visited. That is, if they had a periscope.

@@TheGraveyardChannel when Fred was fixing to marry Donna and behind Fred's back Lamont invited esther and woody and his other uncles and aunts and talking smack about Donna when she wasn't in the room . Another actor played Woodrow in that episode not Raymond Allen. The guy playing him made some comment about Donna and esther goes Woodrow you came here with teeth....do you wanna leave with teeth....gets me every time . But I don't remember that actors name . The next time we see Woodrow Raymond Allen is playing him so what happened to the first guy ??

Didn’t realize that the cemetery is a veterans cemetery until you mentioned it near the end of the video. All the ones you showed in this video were war heroes who fought for their country. I wish I could thank them all for their service and give them big hugs. Had family who were veterans and war heroes. May they all be resting in peace. God bless

Actor Bernie Hamilton who was a black actor from Oakland, California is buried at this cemetery. He appeared in many TV show and movies, his role was that of Captain Dobie in the 1970's cop show Starsky & Hutch. He was their superior officer. He served as a private in the United States Army during the Korean War and if you decide to do an update segment of Riverside National Cemetery his plot number is 61 0 352.

@@TheGraveyardChannel I was his publicist and close cousin (though he was more like a grandfather to me.) When he lived in Quartz Hill, I would often show him various online comments about him. & he would shed tears of joy knowing that people hadn't forgotten about him. I performed the eulogy for Barbara (we called her Bobby) as well. She was his world. By the time of her service, Raymond was unable to speak and was wheelchair bound, but he gripped tightly to her casket. He really wanted to be reunited with her. Also he and Rollo were REALLY good friends. Rollo even attended the family reunion. We have a picture of the two of them together about 5 or so years ago, so our family was surprised to know that they were buried so close together.

Steve ..l was so shocked when you gave a SHOUTOUT to me on the Leave it to Beaver gravesite visitation. I must be getting old for l didn't even remember recommending it🤣🤣🤣. The 2 men who played "Uncle Woody"--DeForrest Covan and Raymond Allen respectively--both died at about age 90; outliving the "Aunt Esther" actress LaWanda Page. Covan died the day before his 90th birthday, and Allen was 91 at death.

What a treat......another vlog from my favorite vlogger. Again another informative and interesting video. It is so important that we remember these actors and their contributions they made during their careers. Best to Jim and your Mom.
