@@audreydunham4600 I was just commenting, on how amazing it would be to live in a house where all of the past presidents have lived. There was nothing racist about my post, so why does everything always have to turn into racism? Everybody needs to grow up, and share love not hate, regardless of your race. We ALL bleed red. And this is coming from a fifteen year old. 🤗

@@keyliegoodwin4170 Interesting fact if you didn't already know, but George Washington never actually lived in the White House. It was being designed/built during his presidency and during most of John Adam's presidency. Adams only lived there during the last year of his term. Even then, it was unfinished but habitable.

People dont realise moist of the Whitehouse is only 70 years old - few parts are the original ... considering the fire of 1812 and the main renovation in the late 40s early 50s authorised by Harry Truman who spent less time in the Whitehouse during his presidency. Indeed Truman was an exceptional President.

The neo-classical design you see in the Entrance Hall, Cross Hall, State Dining Room, and East Room date from Theodore Roosevelt's 1902 renovation. During the Truman renovation, all the historic interiors on the state floor (moldings, paneling, fireplace surrounds, etc.) were carefully dismantled, stored, and then reassembled in the rebuilt White House. The only thing that couldn't be saved were the plaster ceilings.

I know that Jackie Kennedy hired a famous interior design firm from NYC when she redecorated the White House in the early 1960s. Little has changed over the past 60 years. As a side note, I live in Missouri. In the late 1960s one of Missouri's first ladies hired the same interior design firm from NYC to redecorate the Missouri Governor's Mansion. It's like a mini-White House today and open for public tours too.

@@jshanker2005 What has he destroyed? The democrats mess that he cleaned up by Obama and Biden?? Trump has made america great! Greater than it’s ever been in a long long time. Trump bought back manufacturing! Remember Obama the Disaster said that there needed a magic wand to bring manufacturing back? Remember that? Well we didn’t need a “Magic Wand” PRESIDENT TRUMP BOUGHT IT BACK! Obama gave millions and millions of americans the worst healthcare ever. Not affordable to the american people etc. Obama divided this country while in office. Obama made these young people like you idiots. You all democrats think all cops are bad and you burn the american flag and so much more. Obama taught you how to HATE THIS COUNTRY. I could list so many horrible things Obama and Biden did for this country. The Sleepy guy you want for President isn’t fit to be President! The man can’t even remember where he’s at! He clearly has dementia and needs serious help. But the man you want as President wants to raise your taxes, destroy jobs, defund the police, ban fracking! Banning Fracking means no cars, planes, electricity etc! Biden also wants to keep america shutdown from this fake china virus. He doesn’t want people to spend time with their families for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Birthdays, Weddings and all that! More people die of depression from sitting in their house because they can’t go anywhere rather than the China Virus. Just wait you have no idea what’s to come! Trump will be your President for another four more years!

In 2001 ( Before 9-11) we were visiting our son in the D.C. area. His friend worked for the Secret Service at the time and arranged for a private tour of the West Wing. Got to see rooms not on the regular tour. Roosevelt Room, Cabinet room press briefing and even the Oval Office. Oval office was roped off so couldn't walk around inside but we could lean in for a better look. After the tour the tour the agent asked if we'd be interested in seeing the Secret Service Command Center which at that time was located on the top floor of the Executive Office Building next door t to the White House. Of course we said yes! West wing tour started at 8:00 p.m. and by the time we left the Secret Service center it was after midnight. This was 4 months before 9-11 and no idea if you can get a tour this good anymore.

@@DrGariS The agent took us out on the lawn in front of the White House and said we were being watched by cameras and snipers. Told me to hold out my hand, spoke something into what I assumed was a microphone on his wrist and next thing I I need there were 2 laser sits on my hand . Luckily they knew not to shoot. In the Secret Service center one of the guys at one of the dozens of computers asked if I wanted to be either amazed or scared? To get into the White House we had to show our drivers license and give our Social Security number. Don't know what the guy put into his computer but in under a minute he knew my address, phone number, the 3 previous places we lived and to freak me out even more he told me where my brother and sister lived, where they worked, where their kids lived and what everyone's birthday was! So yes, Big Brother was watching!

Little-known fact: those carvings in the wall around the entrance to the Grand State stairway that you see at 18:40 and again around 19 minutes, are the seals of the original 13 states. There are five on each side and three overhead. President Truman had those carved during the 1950-1952 renovation. He mentions it at the very end of his televised tour in May 1952.

@@DrGariS I always wondered what those were and then watching the KZbin video of the Truman tour from 1952 he gave it away at the very end there. Looking them up online I’ve identified several of them. You can see Rhode Island and Massachusetts there and then the center seal in the three overhead carvings is Connecticut because of its unique oval shape. I’ve been to The White House tour 4 different times myself and I’m actually doing a full presentation on it in April.

FYI, the security officers (CIA department) in white shirts inside the white house are currently as of 2023 paid sixty thousand dollars a year at the entry level and with experience (working years there) can make up to 80 thousand or more a year. The top security (CIA inspector) makes over 160 thousand a year. Security is always rotated to different posts as a security measure unless the president or the first lady specifically ask to have a certain security person at a specific post at a specific shift because at the end of the day, the president is the boss of anyone that works in the White House until their last day in office.

It’s a rewarding job. And on top of that I think they need to have a professional degree. Jeez, you would think they would pay them a good salary, but they don’t do it for the money I would imagine. It’s not THAT bad but they should pay more.
@ExclusiveLM

@@DrGariS Getting paid 80 to 100 grand a year within a few years of experience for just standing around and being more of a tour guide is a lot of money. Yes, we do honor their service. But, come on. They are not doing rocket science work. The CIA department that does have higher levels where they get paid up to 160 grand a year is more equivalent to higher pay and they do get a higher pay. But, the guards standing around the white house get paid well for what they do. The ones who should get paid more so they can survive and not end up homeless are the lower middle class and the poor. But, thanks to bought off politicians, the national minimum wage and state minimum salaries never keep up with soaring rents, food and other cost of living expenses.

It’s wild to think that every president has to sleep in the same house. I’m sure there is people working in the White House imagine having to live there and getting no privacy. Every other 4-8 years it’s either democrat blue or republican red, that’s a lot of decorating. You can tell Melania Trump was miserable in the White House she wanted to go back to mar a lago Trump spent a fortune renovating the White House it must have sucked the day they asked him to pack his belongings and Biden move in. Also if a president lives there why is there tours aloud?
