Hi Robbie! What a great idea for planting lettuce in the basket! That would be doable for a lot of people. Our irrigation water was shut off Monday, so most plants in the raised beds, whiskey barrels and pots will eventually die because it costs too much to use city water, but it wouldn't take much water for something like this. I've never grown greens, so it might be a fun project. The bee planter is so pretty with the pansies in it. It should fill out nicely. I like the idea of trellising them. Thank you so much for sharing!

You inspired me to use baskets that I was going to donate. I was taking apart my window boxes and used the coconut liner in the baskets. Frees up pots for tulips.

We overwinter pansies too , in zone 8 GA . Remember to deadhead them to keep them fuller ! Those kind of look like the trailing type? Very nice 🌸

The lettuce lasted so long because it was freshly cut.. the lettuce we buy in the store has been cut for a while before we get it, so it only stores for so long..

This may be a weird question, but have you ever considered using something like flexseal to seal the inside of a basket instead of having to use a plastic liner or plastic trash bag?

How would it drain, though? Also, would it be safe for food? I’m not sure how safe the plastic bag is either. Hopefully doesn’t leach into the plants.
